What am I doing wrong?

Recommended Posts

I am trying to learn how to mission edit. I am currently working on creating a usable UAV and it isn't working. I have read the previous threads and followed them as well as wiki. The following is what I have done and it doesn't work:

Create a player using F1

Create an UAV terminal using F1

Create a flying MQ-9 using F1

Create an UAV module using F7

I then linked each item to the module one at a time

now when I go into preview mode from the editor and go to the UAV terminal there is no option for UAV in my action menu. Please help and let me know if I am doing something wrong or missing some kind of script. Thank you for any help.

Also I am doing this as a test to figure out how to use the editor, therefore, the only items on the map are the player, UAV terminal, MQ-9 and the module. When I go into the preview session I get a second crew member (F3) und he is flying in the MQ-9. I am not sure if that is normal???

Yes, It looks exactly like that on the wiki page. The only difference is when I add units using the F1 I get a light blue line connecting them to each other.

That is the grouping line. Take those out.

I've been trying to remove them but can't figure out how to get rid of them. I feel dumb for not knowing how to remove them.

On the right it says group (f2). Select that and then click on one of the things (module, whichever first) and drag off. Make sure there are no group lines attaching any of them.

My map now looks exactly like the wiki page, no grouping (except my icons are slightly different) and it still does not give a UAV option in my action menu at the UAV terminal. I even restarted my computer and opened a new editing session. I am really at a loss here. I am new to Arma and I am just trying to figure out how this editor works and when I follow all the instructions avaiable it doesn't work.

Did you follow the exact instructions on the wikipage? If you did that then I don't know what to tell you.

I followed the wiki page. I am currently uninstalling and reinstalling the game just to make sure there are no corrupt files.

I doubt that that is necessary.

Make sure of these things:

  1. No Group Lines
  2. Player is on side West
  3. UAV is a MQ-9 (and the special is set to FLYING
  4. It is a UAV Terminal (USMC)
  5. Player is synced to the UAV Module
  6. MQ-9 is synced to the UAV Module
  7. UAV Terminal is synced to the UAV Module

Nothing else should be synced together.

Note: I don't think the UAV Terminal has to be USMC or even a uav terminal it just has to be an empty object or vehicle.

Don't feel bad dude, it doesn't work for me either and I have followed the Wiki exactly and it never works. When you approach the UAV terminal, there is no action available.

And the icon in the Wiki page are wrong - (1) is not a blue flag in the editor, it is the UAV module icon.

Doesn't work - I'd like someone who claims it does post a link to a simple mission that does it by the Wiki instructions.

I had the same issue and just figured it out.

If you followed the instructions and it still doesn't work, remove the sync's and do them over again starting with the MQ9 to module, player to module, then terminal to module.

Not a very helpful post, but it worked for me without a hitch in OA demo.

i had same issue but simple solution is to sync the following

UAV mod to be synced with following

MQ-9(uav drone, set to flying, non playable)

the player or yourself(unit/man ect)

Then terminal UAV ( empty, backpack uav terminal for example)

just 3 lines from mod needed
