Share your models.

Recommended Posts

I bet many of you got a ton of half made models that you no longer work on, some good models for ArmA 1 that you don't have the energy to convert for ArmA1. Perhaps you have just released an addon for ArmA 2 but feel it might be of intreset for many mods. Why not share it?

At the Swedish homepage, http://www.anrop.se we are now starting a section for people to share their source models. Over the week we hope that the database will grow with models as well making it in both English and Swedish to reach out to all of the ArmA community and not just the Swedish one.

Its easy to upload and if you run into problems, just pm me with the files and I will upload.

Please, upload to the misc and I will sort into the categories as needed.

We just stated this a few minutes ago, so don't expect to find so much now, but help us making it better with sharing what you got.

Doesn't matter if its just a p3d or a complete addon, as long as you share your work, we are grateful.

thanks mate (and share your models as well, no matter how good/bad they are)..

We got Sa-2 guideline, FN FAL, BE 32 and the Raven UAV.. nothing too fancy but aint too crap either. Will add a great model (but no textures) of the UH-1C soon and several others from my friends.

and life in mexico rocks.. was expecting 5 degrees but a sudden twist in the weather gave me 20 degrees instead. Oh yeah :)

Bad thing is that i will miss out of arma2 gaming and editing :/

me and my date on new year :)

catch you on msn later pufu, hope you doing fine

Few questions:

1. what format must the model be in? I am modeling in either 3dmax (often) or modo (still learning). Can it be a 3ds/OBJ (better for overall compatibility), or does it need to be a p3d? Especially large poly models (WIP highpoly ones), with above vert limit that O2 supports

2. The idea would be to have a general database so other ppl can continue work on, is it not? Is the group of ppl who will work on those chosen, or can anyone work further on those?

PS: cheers man, all fine, drop me a msg when you got me online

PPS: great date there! take care of her (i guess you already did :P)

Right now the limit is 55 mb for uploading file (however you can upload several for the same release), haven't tried the url function, and what you put inside it is up to you. P3d, with config, materials ready to go in ArmA 2 would be perfect but the idea is to be the junk jard, like get scrap metal. If you got an well detalied, accurate model but didn't got arsed to do the interior. Thats the type of model we want, or you did the model but can't/didn't have time to map the textures for it.

I have a lot of friends which i asked "maybe you can upload those nice airplane models you didn't finish" and their reply is "well, i would but lost them in a harddrive crash". So right now, any format is fine. Right now we in a collecting phase, if we get tons of models (unlikely) we might have to sort more on quality, file format and so on.

2. The idea would be to have a general database so other ppl can continue work on, is it not? Is the group of ppl who will work on those chosen, or can anyone work further on those?

The idea is to have both groups continue work on half made addons but also that rifles, vehicles that are made shared. Like the Huey, of course in different versions but the same "bird" is used/been used in the vietnam war, in the Swedish, Canadian, Spanish, German... armies. Why have all those team forced to either make one from scratch or look all over for a model.

So its an open archive, you may put any license you want when you upload the files, but hopefully it will be mostly GNU.
