Mod/addon recommendations

Hi all,

Being quite new to Arma 2 and not knowing anyone else personally who plays it and can show me stuff I have to ask here if you don't mind.

ATM I've just got vanilla Arma 2 with a couple of small addons like the littlebird helicopter, binnocs with electronic bearing... that kind of thing. So can any of you experienced players recommend any addons or even mods that improve the game?

Especially looking for things that will improve the AI, and game effects both visual and audio. Keeping in mind that they still work with the new patch. But feel free to mention anything at all that is worth getting.

Thanks Nicolas, the ACE 2 mod and Zeus AI were two that I was considering. Can you confirm that these still work ok with the 1.05 patch?

I can confirm this, works all good with the newest 1.05. :)

I recommend myself:

ACE2 Core, ACE-X for extra units (US Army etc), ACEX_SM for new and cool sounds, WarFX for amazing explosion effects, and CAA1 mod to have ArmA1 islands in ArmA2.

HIFI sound mod + ACE2 + JTD smoke & fire + SLX wounds + RH weapons + Mando Missiles + XAM Environment + Landtex terrain retexture + WarFX + DSAI + ZEUS AI + every island mod you can find + every vehicles addons you can find (F16, F117, little birds etc etc dump them all into one big folder) + CBA ( required for some of the above mods to work)

If you are new to ArmA2, make sure you complete the offical campaign RED HARVEST in vanilla before playing mods. Otherwise, you won't even know what got improved! right? :)

LandTex land texture replacement mod for Chernarus. IMHO this should be officially integrated into one of the patches, its such a must have. :)

I'm not sure if there is any need for Zeus AI since 1.05.

Japahto island is a pretty good looking place to play on.

Also try ACE2 and the PLA mod comes out today, which is also a graphical beauty + lots of content.

Is there a mod that adds radio chatter to Arma 2? Doesn't sound like it from what I've read but just in case I've missed something......
