De_little_Bubi 1 Posted December 20, 2009 lol yesterday i lost "Razor Two" mission cause i accidantly made right click on scarlet while sitting in a HMMWV. (accidantly assigned him as target for my gunner) My gunner killed him immediatly :/ on normal circumstances i would say "wow nice reaction" but so i just facepalmed... I had this happen quite far in the Manhattan mission... Havent bothered to play that mission again since, gathering the motivation to start from scratch after such a stupid mistake. froggyluv 2136 Posted December 20, 2009 Saves are for punks! J/K :p Don't know about no saves but me own personal rule is to only play with 1 (Vet or Expert). Missions just aren't as memorable with the option to save wherever/however you want. "After Montignac", the best great escape mission ever made was a great example of "where do I want to use that save" and I still remember that hair raising trek, trying to time my sprints between foot and armour patrols and maybe get that red car :D With saves, it would have been long forgotten. jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 20, 2009 ^... hey I must agree with you on the memorable part but its just that ArmA2 missions are EXTREMELY long and sooo many places can screw up. :( In fact, a single mission in ArmA2 is akin to an entire campaign in some other older games. With the recent save-resume CTD bug that I am getting with the new beta, I am coming to appreciate the realism and increased tactical considerations that I am forced to make when playing because I know I won't have a second chance. :(
GRS 10 Posted December 21, 2009 If it wasn't for the whole "one man down = mission over, pack your shit and gtfo/end of zeh world" then I would use less saves.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 21, 2009 ^... you are right. Not being allowed to lose a single man while taking on entire bases isn't too realistic :(
froggyluv 2136 Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) If it wasn't for the whole "one man down = mission over, pack your shit and gtfo/end of zeh world" then I would use less saves. Good point. Don't like that feature very much either. I think that if AI skills played out more accurately, that when you lose a 'named' player, you would be able to reinforce him with a less skilled no-named unit rather than lose the mission/campaign. jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 22, 2009 ^... that was what was done during the "Queen's Gambit".
