Bad aim in multiplayer?

Me and a friend have played coop-LAN tonight and when i run the server and he connects to me - his aim is terrible. The weapons hit everywhere but the target. If he´s the server he doesnt have that problem anymore. My aim works perfect both times.

I first thought he just suck at aiming but thats sadly not the case (so cant taunt him for this anymore). The ping is good for both of us.

Any sollutions to what the problem can be?

Do you guies both run original ArmA 2 with a legit key?

You friend might have triggered FADE protection system by running a cracked version of the game (e.g. using a crack executable)

Hmm not shure if he does, ill check with him. Is there any other resons to why it could be like this?

Can the FADE protection turn itself on without running a unlegit key? Does it react on cracked .exe files also?

Yes, it reacts to cracked exes. If you and your mate are using the same key, this might happen too.

-"Public" keys (illegal download versions typically only have a few keys available);

-Both using the same key on a LAN;

-NoCD executable (cracked exe);

-Trainer (anything that affects the game's code);

-Editing of game files;

-Bad install.

Those are the most typical ones.

I think we tried it with my copy of the game for ages ago to see how it would run over VPN, but it warned over CD-key so we couldnt try it that time. I think he have bought it and reinstalled it since then... could the FADE protection still be active since that time?

I don't *think* so. I accidentally ran two installs of the game using the same key while I was setting up a dedicated server for Armed Assault and it said something like "genuine games don't fade". After that, it seemed to run just fine, so as far as I know, FADE is not irreversible.

It sounds strange thou that it should be the problem since it works when hes the server? :s Is that normal for the FADE-protection?
