Where are the excellent missions?

Recommended Posts

Having played some incredible missions like Cipher and the two Seal Team Six campaigns, I'm hungry for more stuff of equal quality.

And I'm also interested in excellent armour and air missions.

Is there a resource that offers only the very cream of the crop?

Preferably anything with the minimum amount of mod requirements too.

Thanks

PS - should have said, I want these for SP.

But honestly, I would like some more Sp Missions too. Thank God Seal Team Six 3 is arriving next week.

horrgaks if you are searching for an short but exelent Campaign, then look for Chesty Puller. Amazing Mission Design

I think sadly most of the game seems to be endlessly remaking the same multiplayer missions. I would like to see some more excellent SP missions too. Saok has some excellent ones, his thread is nearby.

All the good missions are in the squad communities where they'll get played properly. ;)

Strange, they all work for me!

Just advising people of my own opinion, which is that I get my satisfaction from seeing my missions played how I want them to be, which is why they don't end up submitted to OFPEC, and I suspect the same goes for other creators in squads. Which could be why some of the above find SP missions relatively scarce.

I am looking for feedback on a mission I'm working on (in an ongoing way). It is fairly dynamic, though, with replayability being a bigger consideration than story. Although, I do think there's a pretty cool story aspect to it, it is minimal. :)

Edit:

An idea of the gameplay:

The target city was Berezhino. It is a larger city. I started about 600m away, to the south. I grabbed a laser marker/battery, and the SMAW with 3 shells. I made my way northwest until I was just a bit southwest of the city. From there, I could see some technicals and UAZs. I called in an artillery strike of laser munitions, and lazed the targets. (The current beta has some issues with SOM module, so it was a bit tricky.) I was able to take out those targets. I had trouble seeing any other opfor, so moved further North. I kept ~400m away from any enemy (had my FR group holding fire) and started marking on the map where opfor concentrations were. Intentionally avoided any direct conflict, although I could see patrols. Called the UAV to assist in getting an idea where the enemy was... but I think it got shot down.

Soon, I got word that the Russian forces were moving towards the city. At that point, I knew it would be better to wait for the Russian troops to arrive. I found a safe position with which to view the movements, and by the time they arrived, it was becoming light outside. Spent some time directing arty barrages (mostly SADAM and laser), but there were a couple anti-air pieces that just wouldn't get hit. I decided to move around into position to take them out with the SMAW. So, I moved East to the North side of the city, and carefully picked my way to a position to take the shot. We had to take out a couple small opfor patrols while doing this. When in position, I called for the air and ground attacks to start, then took out the ZSUs.

Since I knew we'd given up our position, I backed off in the direction that I expected bluefor to come from. The air attack took out some T-72s and BMPs, and generally provided some cover. As I saw bluefor arrive, we made our way into the city to assist in the mopups. This was probably a tactical error on my part. I lost 2 and 4 in the process. I was injured, but my corpsman healed me. We took out several Russian and Insurgent targets.

In the end, I had helped prepare the battlefield for the friendly forces and assisted in taking back the city.

if they work for you then you are not using firefox.

The guy asks for good missions, and you are teasing him with the possibility that you have them but limit access to all but a chosen few who abide by your strict rules.

Its a cruel joke...

I respect your opinion, but it is possible to enjoy this game more ways than just your way, and you should be open to sharing your views and your missions with the public if you think your SOP is something people could learn from.

how can people better themselves if you are hoarding all the answers?

Christmas is the time for giving and sharing! :xmas_o:

It was indeed a cruel joke, that's just my facetious side, apologies. :p

I consider my missions good, but I know a large proportion of the community wouldn't, simply because of the different environment a close-knit squad offers. With public missions there has to be a lot more compromise, because the player(s) have no set 'rules' or 'procedures' to adhere to. I noticed this when I made missions as part of the ofp.info team waaay back. I did enjoy making missions and seeing them played, but once I delved into squads, I became slightly lazy in some areas that were now less important, but I could also create scenarios that are only possible with prior planning and a lot of teamwork, and which aren't always viable in public missions.

Also if you ever come across my editing questions here or at OFPEC, you'll see i'm hardly hoarding all the answers, especially not any technical ones. :D

Anyway, once we get a public server, we'll make some addon-less missions for all players to enjoy and learn from.

not using firefox

Indeed, only tested with Explorer and Chrome.

Here I found something for you

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=7599

It is a really good campaign with outstanding Mission Design (Way better than Harvest Red ones)

You should really give it a try. The first Mission is nothing unusual, but still fun. In the Second Mission you will beginn to ask yourself in what kind of hell you´ve been thrown.

If you want to play it with ACE: No Problem, but watch up the Ai will be even smarter and deadlier then

Since I made these I will withdraw any opinion on whether or not the are excellent but the are available. I know one uses some added content but everything is well worth having and I can guarantee I will use that stuff often. I'll get back into making missions when I get back home from Phoenix, AZ in a month. Unfortunately I leave in 2 hours.

Until then......

I'm pleasantly surprised that no-one has yet posted garbage like "all user-made content is equally great because it's free" as has happened in some of the addon and mod threads.

Thats because you need to be a true Artist to make a good Mission. For Models and Stuff you just need to model them properly
