Glitchs

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new with computers and hope you will answer technical question for me. I noticed when I bought this game and started putting the upgrades in and adding addons to it, the game would act differently. I get flashes in the roads from a distance and explosions start going off for no reason. Should I take all the Addons out? Or remove the program and re-install it? And sometimes I get funny images on the screen (solid shapes).

Thanks for any help, KDog-

The glitches with the road are probably being caused by your video driver and/or the video settings you are using. If you are using 16-bit color, try switching to 32-bit mode, and the problems should disappear.

As far as explosions going off by themselves are concerned, that doesn't sound right. What missions does it happen in, and at what point?

You may also want to post detailed specs of your system.

that flickering road could be due to 16bit. i use 16bit setting, and it happens. changing to 32bit does fix it.

I'm running 32bit with w-buffer and I do notice "flashing road in distance" with the latest nvidia drivers. (28.32)

Do you have the Visual Quality setting maxed out in the Video Options dialog? If not, objects may disappear and reappear.

I found that turning W-buffering off got rid of the flashing roads, in both 16 and 32 bit modes. I have a Radeon, though, so it may not work the same with your graphics card.

Thanks: I have a 32mb geforce2 mx card and it's set at 800 x 600 x 32 (32 bit true color). I took the buffer off, but haven't played the game yet to see what happens. Any suggestions on these settings?

Brightness - 1.2

Gamma - 1.6

Frame Rate (what's this for?) 10.20

Visual quality (?) 5.17, should I put this one all the way up?

multi texturing (??)

Should I max all this stuff out?

The explosions are from my own mission. It doesn't happen often only a couple times, not much to worry about, but if it continues, I will write down exactly what happens and ask about it again. smile.gif

Thanks Guys, I took the buffer off and all looks great. Did some adjustments with the color and now I'm a happy camper.

set quality to max and leave multitexturing ON. (it's only in there for people who's videocards don't have multitexturing support).
