Huge Server Crashes during MP

Hello everybody.

I hope this is the right place to ask support on a very sad question that is affecting our server.

We are a clan and we are organizing a big campaign involving 50vs50 players.

We created custom missions on Chernarus map with some scripts.

The game run quite smoothly but the problem is that very often the server crashes after 1 hour or 1 hour and half of playing (the mission total time is 2 hours). This happened already two times.

One time we experienced also another problem. The server seemed to crash (red chain than disconnection) always after 1 hour and some time, but after some minutes we noticed that the server was still up and running, the game was continuning (players stats, kills, sectors) and finished exactly after the two hours programmed.

Anyway, could we receive an help to see if there is something wrong in the server log? I dont know.. a script that goes in loop, a problem with the game... please help us because we really dont know how to solve this.

Just in case you need, this is our server specifications:

Processor: Intel Xeon Quad 4x 2.83+ GHz 12 Mo L2 - FSB 1333 MHz 45nm 64bit

Memory: 8GB DDR2

Disk: 2x 750 Go - SATA2

Connection: 1Gbps

OS: Windows Server 2003 R2 64bit - Service Pack 2

Use the server.exe from latest betapach folder...check if it solves your problem.

make sure to have -mod=beta in your startup line.

You'll need basic.cfg to optimize your bw & game optimization.

Did you use #monitor 1 to check server FPS`?

A clan log from only the event is needed.

Did you try -maxmem tweaks.

I'll try to reply to all your suggestions:

1) I will try the beta later

2) We use #monitor and in some cases FPS goes also around 5-6. I know this means is suffering...

3) What value I have to put in the -maxmem= parameter? 2047?

Anyway, this is our settings in the cfg

Do you thing is right or can be improved, based on our hardware config?

I will ask also in the thread about dedicated servers

1) I see you plan 50 v 50, is this pure PvP or is there AIs and stuff in there?

2) How many people are in the server when your server is at 5-6FPS?

At Charlie Foxtrot we run battles of this size every week. We have no issues but our server & mission files are set up with that scenario in mind. However, having said that, (before I think it might have been the the second or third patch I can recall) we had some real issues. That patch sorted seemed to sort out the trouble we had been having during the summer. So make sure your running the most up to date server version

You also should take look at the mission itself. Cut out all unnecessary stuff that you dont need.

Thanks for your reply.

About your question I can say that there are no AI and just few script there but all the scripts are written to run client-side, no "server-sync" needed.

I installed the patch in this link

But at this point I don't know if it is the last or not!

I see 1.04.60718 but I see that arma2 beta patches arrived to 1.04.61032

Actually I'm launching my server with a command like this:

"C:\program files\bohemia interactive\Arma2\beta\arma2server.exe" -mod=beta ...........and so on

Now my question is: there is another "new" patch for dedicated server I can use, newer that 60718? Or I can simply install the arma2 beta patches for "clients"?

I dunno about Arma 2, but in Ofp server crashes when some motherfuckers coming to play with those improved graphic and animations mods

We set equalmod enabled, so no-one can enter with any mod. Only "vanilla" players are accepted. So this is not the case, unfortunately ;)

I recently started my Call911's ArmA Xtreme again an having the same problem too, server runs fine for maybe 45 mins to an hr than goes tits up. When i had my ArmA1 server Squad Server managed it pretty well so i really did'nt touch much. But now I have to an well am kinda paying for it knowledge wise. Am only running vanilla ArmA2 (no OA) an running the EVO FFA Red mission from our Russian friends over at ArmA2.RU(awsome mission BTW:). Anyways any help advice would be much appreciated thanx.

why hell on earth You using ARMA 2 server version 1.04 ? ;)

please upgrade Your games to ARMA 2 full version 1.09 and then You may also use beta 1.10

Lol, see there ya go Defcon servers set everything up an well I updated to 1.09 but after that it's been like um ok 8) Is that somthing seperate from OA or does it require OA? Sry been away for a bit, an well i installed with OA an let OA patch everything else an at the time what i thought a client side addon issue was actually a BE update version. Anyways where an how do i goto to get the latest server version? Thanx again.

Are u sure u did'nt mistake the mission version with the server version? As My server is currently @ 1.09 or were u talking about somthing totally differnt?

this also happen when some cheaters try to launch their garbage tools on [already overloaded]server.
