skep155 10 Posted December 2, 2009 Just a hunch but i'm guessing this is a fairly common problem, had a quick search but couldn't find a solution. Just installed the game and the sky is screwed, the sky is like just grey with no textures anywhere. Anybody else with this issue?
maddogx 13 Posted December 2, 2009 I'm sure I've heard this before, but I don't think it's very common. Can you provide some info on your computer hardware, OS (Windows XP/Vista/7), graphics driver version, Arma2 version (Steam/retail, patch) and in-game settings? skep155 10 Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) Just patched the game. Running it on Windows Vista on low video settings. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 8400, just downloaded a driver for it but hasn't made a difference. I can see the light from the sun in the sky but the sky itself is just a grey textureless colour. Framerate wise its running fine on low settings but planning on getting another stick of RAM so i can crank it up a little bit. I can remember having a similar problem with the first game once. Edit: Problem solved. Just needed to turn the Video Memory Settings up to very high and bingo i can see the sky :-] Edited December 2, 2009 by skep155

dogz 10 Posted December 4, 2009 set vid mem to default if you have not tried...
dmarkwick 261 Posted December 4, 2009 I have this problem too. I've got vid mem set to low and I got no sky texture at all. If I set vid mem to high I get periodic "receiving" messages during the game, meaning I'm unable to do anything for 5 or 10 seconds. I guess I have to either settle for no sky textures or suffer the "receiving" message. ---------- Post added at 09:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 PM ---------- I can confirm that setting the vid mem setting to "high" & above returns the sky, and the sky texture remains when I turn the setting back down to low. But, on restarting a new game session, the sky texture is gone again.
