.kju 3245 Posted November 26, 2009 From CIT #1745: Stuttering in cities and even small villages: Suma (...) what I intend now is to work further on increasing the minimal fps in this mission. If and how this will help other situation is unclear and cannot be tested unless someone provides testing scenarios for them. So here is your chance to get BI improve the performance. Submit missions to test low FPS scenarios. Make sure to review this mission first, to get an idea how the mission should look like for example. It should be automated, if possible. At least at max a few simple steps to reproduce low FPS need to be necessary. So it is up to YOU now. :bounce3:
MJK-Ranger 0 Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) Her is my test with latest beta patch: Arma and system spec is below the image. IMG deleted. Edited November 26, 2009 by MJK-Ranger
.kju 3245 Posted November 26, 2009 To clarify. It is not about to test this mission. It is about to provide new scenarios in the form of missions that cause low FPS. No AI, no scripts. Plain scene / graphics drawing - best with a camera scene.

InFireBaptize 0 Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) this is the most important issue that BI should be focusing on right now, everything else can wait. How good a game is if your fps dips for no apparent reason! I have said it many times before and i will repeat: 1) fps dips substantially for no apparent reason! 2) Unless you have RAID 0 setup or extra ram to setup RAMDISK, game will have micro stutters 3) Slow LOD texture loading, e.g houses, trees, bushes to be fair, the beta patches have done a good job on minimizing the above issues but in my opinion BI should continue investigating and focusing on performance increase. Update: (observation) I found that several areas on map have way too many trees! Edited November 26, 2009 by InFireBaptize
Alex72 1 Posted November 26, 2009 Good initiative Kju! This will be helpful to BIS for sure.
alef 0 Posted November 26, 2009 ... BI should continue investigating and focusing on performance increase. ArmA2 is so complex that testing became harder. A repro mission should focus on showing exactly where a problem happens, so that a dev load this mission, run it, does something in the game as instructed by the reporter, follow the engine with debugger/profiler and tries to spot bugs or weak points. Then, he can tune parameters or fix the code where possible.

-=seany=- 5 Posted November 26, 2009 I think my thread here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=90686 is a good candidate. adding now.
alef 0 Posted November 27, 2009 Here is a kind of mission template: test-camera-Chernarus.sqm. You can create a camera path with waypoints and have some stats in the arma2.RPT. It's a template, so not intended to reproduce anything using directly as it is. People that know the "hot spots", please arrange the waypoints there and add your mission+arma2.RPT at A2 CIT, or report here.
