Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 With 128MB of RAM, OFP will run slowly regardless of what graphics card or processor you have. You'll probably also notice that the drive light for your hard disk never goes off, because the operating system is paging the whole time. Add at least another 128MB of RAM, and things should improve significantly. If you want to host games, I'd get at least 384MB of RAM total.
Lt_Damage 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Definately increase your ram to at least 256. Make sure you select 1024x768x32 not, 16. Having 16 bit color can significantly effect performance has OFP has been optimised for 32. If you have a Geforce3 you can handle 32bit color so don't use 16bit. Spot (non-contract) prices are about four times what they were at the beginning of the year.
suchey 0 Posted April 2, 2002 More RAM will most deffinately help, however, I had a similar problem with my video using a GForce3...I solved this by removing my printer and old crusty external zip drive (of all things)...it seemed that something was polling one of those items consistantly (even in windows)...however, in windows you dont notice the stutter because things arent moving as fast...try this...open notepad and hold down a key on your keyboard...in my case, I could actually SEE the slight pause using this method...once I removed the zip/printer, Im running smooth as silk...RAM may very well be the problem in your case, however, it couldnt hurt to try some other options such as this as well...in addition, the Avon Ladys OFP FAQ has some ideas for similar porblems...I dont have the URL for the page handy, but doing a search for Avon Lady OFP should give you the page. GOOD LUCK!!
Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 Was that a parallel port version of the ZIP drive? The Iomega drivers blow...

Mister Frag 0 Posted April 2, 2002 No two systems are alike, and if Boss! has a couple of programs such as an Anti Virus scanner running in the background and eating up resources, the system will crawl.
