f2k sel 164 Posted November 20, 2009 I've tried a few missions in the editor and although I can call a medic he almost never responds. Is there anything I can do to make them more responsive?
no use for a name 0 Posted November 20, 2009 If they're under fire they won't be so "johnny-on-the-spot" as they're in 'danger' mode and try to find cover and put down some suppressing fire. The best way I found is find a close enough area that's safe from enemy fire (house, wall, etc.) and crawl to it; while selecting your medic and clicking on the same spot. Once you're both there tell him to heal you again and he usually does it. I also found calling a medic while you're in the open will almost certainly lead to both of your demise if/when he actually does try to help you
max power 21 Posted November 20, 2009 The medics are usually not stupid and will try to help you only if the coast is clear in their estimation. Try to move somewhere where the medic isn't likely to get shot.
Alex72 1 Posted November 20, 2009 If you DO want him to skip the fact that bullets are spraying all around you - set the medic to SAFE and then call him again. He should now run up to you and fix you. However he might also die while doing it because of... Well you know. :)
f2k sel 164 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) The problem seems to be once the shooting starts and you've asked him for help and he refuses he seems to go into ultra cautious mode. Setting him safe has little effect, it seems to be that if any group member is in danger he refuses the command even when on safe. I left my men fighting and walked at least a 1000 meters away behind a hill and set him to safe and he still refused to heal me, he did heal himself though. Only when all the rest of my group were dead did he accept the command and heal me. The command seems very hit and miss, couldn't you on the old system walk up to him and get healed? Yes, in Arma the person needing healed actuated the command; I wish it was the same in arma2; or better yet if it worked both ways. Like I said it's best to tell him to move somewhere then after he gets there tell him to heal; it usually works

jw custom 56 Posted November 22, 2009 Select medic with F# key, press 6 then chose who to heal, Heal teamleader etc. This works for me even under heavy fire. Calling medic with the Injured action in action menu won't work when enemy is nearby

Calling medic with the Injured action in action menu won't work when enemy is nearby Seems to help as long as I'm not seriously injured. I've also found that on a mission I was working on I had one of the first aid modules unlinked so in general it's working a little better. But still missing the " fast Heal at Command" for the player and if you crawl to a medical tent. Thanks for the help.
HyperU2 11 Posted November 22, 2009 Yeah I bled out yesterday despite no enemy presence. The machinegunner from my squad ever ran up to me and then fell back. No medal winning medics in this game.
f2k sel 164 Posted November 22, 2009 Using the method described by JW Custom seems to be the best along with modules. I've made a post in the bugtracker to see if we can get it cleaned up a little, it's these little things that annoy newbies and some old veterans like myself who forget things at an alarming rate.
