New to the forums =)

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! I'm new to the forums, and have just managed to get hold of the game after finally getting a system good enough to run it xD

I do have a quick question though: I notice that there are very few tracers in ARMA2? Is this meant to be like this or is it a bug? Only very rarely do i see a tracer round go off in an engagement, and compared to ARMA1 there are next to none..i was just wondering if theres any way i can sort this out, maybe any mods/patches i can download?

Thanks for your help guys =)

P.S. Im patched up to the latest level :S

Tracer mods:

Opticalsnare's WarFX Tracers: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=89645

Pistolfied's Tracers: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=87333

It's up to you to decide which one fits you better.

Default ArmA2 does have quite enough tracers, but most of them are visible trough NV goggles only. These mods (apart from other adjustments and changes) make them visible without NVG, too.

edit: Also, see How to install and launch addons guide on Armaholic.com

And welcome to ArmA2 and the community :)

Hi there and welcome. :)

The tracers in Arma2 are different compared to ArmA1 in three ways:

1. Tracers are mostly used by machine guns.

2. Only every 3rd or 5th round is a tracer round, depending on the weapon.

3. Tracers are best visible from behind, some only through NVGs.

This is apparently more realistic, at least from what I understand.

EDIT: Seems I was beaten to it... :)

Hey mate, Welcome to the forums, I can only really second what cole has already said.

Quite alot of the weapons in ARMA2 don't use tracers as standard or use "dim" tracers which can only be seen when using NVGs so that sort of accounts for the drop in tracers compared to ARMA1, also I think in ARMA1, without any mods on every shot produced a tracer but in A2 its more like every 5th (afaik) on things like the M249 and so on...

Welcome to the forums, if you are prepared to make a bit of an investment in time and patience, you will get the most out of your PC and will give a ton back for what will be some great gaming experiences. Ton of resources for that on the web, but for ARMA II specific stuff

www.armaholic.com

This forum is great as well, a lot of experienced guys here and ton of technical information...

If it's opticalsnare's tracer mod your installing do this:

1.) In your Arma 2 directory create a folder name @TracersFX

2.) In your @TracersFX create a folder named addons

3.) Copy the files:

TracersWAR.bikey

TracersWAR.pbo

TracersWAR.pbo.TracersWAR.bisign

...into your addons folder.

4.) Your shortcut on desktop should be similar to this:

"C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\arma2.exe" -mod=@TracersFX

Or you can use a ArmA2-launcher which will make things lot more easier when dealing with multiple mod-folders.
