Tactical view

Recommended Posts

Hi All

It says that the 'numpad' switches between normal view and tacticalview on page 43 of manual.

Hmm...where is the numpad key

When "numpad is mentioned, it describes the area where the key is located.

On the right side of your keyboard you will notice a "numpad" with keys around it such as NumLock, /, *, -, and so on....

Here is a better example

NumLock / *

7 8 9

4 5 6

1 2 3

0 . Enter

I changed my keys around and use the "Enter" key, located within the "NUMPAD AREA" to switch to 3rd person.

I have a mouse that has two extra buttons on it that I use for Tactical view. One buttopn switches to Tactical view while the other zooms the tactical view out.

Those keys also have other functions as well, which may or may not show up on your keyboard.

7 is also "Home"

8 is also "up"

9 is pg "up"

4 is "left"

5 is 5

6 is "right"

1 is also "End"

2 is also "down"

3 is also "Pg Dn"

0 (Zero) is also "Ins"

. is also "Del" (or delete)

Hope this helps

Ok understand that...but which key switches to tactical view?

Whatever key you want it to be, or the decimal key, which is also "Del"

But your better off customizing the keys to your own preference.

How much do people actually use the tactical view? I thought it was a great option at first, but now I hardly ever use it.

"," on the numpad is command view.

Great to use when moving your units around - even though its cheating lol. Can be good for screenshots as well.

Test pressing (and hold) zoom and then go command view. Youll get a zoomed in view that is great for taking screens. Remember to press ESC and then video options and HIDE the menu. ;)

I agree its cheating, but it's the only sensible way to do quick assigns where you actually see what you are doing. Using the OFP number assigns, the scenario will have changed when you get to the next guy, and you have no idea what rifleman at 12 o'clock was assigned. Not to mention how the formation direction can be screwed up and no directions make sense.

However, this is also a good reason to avoid AI commanding in multiplayer, as it *is* such a great cheat. Way more powerful than 3rd person cheating.
