jwalstab 10 Posted October 19, 2009 Stand up - forces the unit stand up Stay crouched - forces the unit stay crouched Go prone - forces the unit go prone Keep low - forces the unit to decide for himself what he would like to do. Also with AI make sure you set their behaviour by pressing backspace, 7 and then set to aware or safe if not fighting, or danger in a firefight. Press backspace 3 and set them to engage at will or hold fire if you want them to stop. Formations with backspace 1. Theses all work perfectly fine and I have no problems, I even seperate my AI into different fireteams to flank and supress human enemys with great sucess. I personally think the only thing wrong is your lack of wanting to learn this game. It is not a simple game for simple minds, its a game for people wanting to re-create realistic military scenarios and play them out, being able to use thinking on the fly to gain an advantage, rather than remembering what scripted guy jumps out at what time. Also I really don't think BI gives a shit about your 24 pounds, in fact I am sure they would be fine without it. edit\\ Whats with all these people wanting scripted enemys...this is not what this game is for? Muahaha 10 Posted October 19, 2009 I believe that BIS is doing a great work with the AI, eventhough it does has it's flaws. To make an AI to behave as realistic as a real person in a open ended game world is not as easy as it sounds. Having what AI Arma2 is having now is already a great step done by BIS to bring us closer to the real thing. If you are basing your idealistic AI behaviour with other games than you should also take into considerations the open ended-ness of this game. If you give enough time to learn the behaviour of every AIs you will see that all AI actually has it's basic core reaction to the situation it's at. eg. If the AI is under fire and you are issuing command to hold fire, the AI might not heed your command and instead fire back as basic reaction. Things such as these are normally perceived as broken game play... Give it some time and understand more...
-RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted October 19, 2009 Obviously, you've never used Microsoft Vista. or any other software that you've purchased. Maybe hold off on buying software or operating systems until there aren't any bugs in them. That'll teach em by golly.
Bulldogs 10 Posted October 19, 2009 Since the game came out I've been waiting to get this disordinate AI but haven't found it yet. I seriously can't figure out what people are doing to get their AI to ignore orders or do something against orders. I actually did see it once, but that was using Kegety's noblur mod, at least with 1.02 patch it bugged the command interface so the commands were messed up, but vanilla (no mods) I haven't found any bad commands. jw custom 56 Posted October 19, 2009 (edited) No one is saying that a game has to be a "perfect" game. But seriously now Bohemia is not a company with few experience. Bohemia is not a company which just opened its doors yesterday. They have now released 3 comercial games, they have done simulations for the military (from what I have read). They really should by now know it better. Particularly when they want to make games. Yet another advicer BIS should hire.... what does the manual say the 'keep low' command is supposed to do? how does this actually work in reality? this is one in numerous bugs this product has. Thank god your bringing important issues up.... lol Edited October 19, 2009 by JW Custom
vilas 477 Posted October 19, 2009 many people here defend and they are ironic to topic starter, but look: keep low, what does it mean in english ? keep - keep, stay, hold, synonymous,am I right ?? low - not high, down, near ground, am i right ? maybe this option in game menu should be changed to "(up to) AI decision" ?? concerning OFP/Arma/Arma2 AI , as i remember i liked dumb OFP AI, they obeyed all orders at all cost, like soldier from Nazi or WW2 Soviet army with NKVD officer at back "do what you must or i will kill you" Arma 2 and Arma AI is "too democratic sometimes" but i agree it must be very very hard to code AI in real way, CodeMo... tried and Dragon Rice is big collapse what i don't like in Arma "democratic AI" or game menu - they not take risky decisions, if i want to run somwhere very very fast behind flying bullets of enemy, AI waits and returns fire and i wait for half minute or more when they will start to move to me maybe there should be option in menu "stay close at all costs" ? which would be freezing AI decisions for this option and AI would be more obeying ? and what is also annoying issue is for me friendly fire issue i can live with not proper AI, but what takes away fun is friendly fire problem example: i shoot from machinegun at enemy positions, 2 fast running AI get into my fire line, they died and... i was shot dead by other AI as "friendly fire killer" the same happened in other mission i was in tank, i was supporting infantry, one HE round exploded and killed 2 own soldiers , and than soldier 2 took command, i was ejected from tank and killed by AI it is problem and bug AI cannot have such strict friendly fire reaction to player they don't kill other AI if it make friendly fire, it kills player :( other problem - swimming and loosing weapons i like swimming option in Armas, but hey, look: i ordered formation to go near port, some soldiers started to swim and lost weapons why they couldnt go on dry ground like in OFP they chosen water cause they could and lost weapons, because waypoint was near sea :/ generally speaking, no matter how many bugs we will notice, there is no other game like BIS game
