Arma 2 stopped working

Recommended Posts

I Must say since operation flash point was under codemaster, turned to armed assult and moved to bohemia the product has been full of bugs and unstable. But this game kicks a$$ regardless. I have a Vista x64, i7 920, 2xasus GTX285 sli, asus extreme II motherboard. 4GB DDR3. about 20 minutes into the game it closes to desktop with arma 2 stopped working. Please assist. What information can I gather for you guys to investigate? PLEASE HELP!!! Also what are the recommended nvidia sli settings. With 2 GTX285's I'd imagine I would be able to run everything full blast..that is not the case. Please help.

Regards,

Sam

Have you done these things?

Update Nvidia drivers to 191.03?

Update DirectX?

Disabled HyperThreading in the BIOS?

Removed Vista and installed Windows7?

Developer of the games haven't changed,Bi has done all of them.Publisher has changed and that's causing more bugs because they are pushing Bi to release game as fast as possible regardless the state of the game.

Indeed, maxing out the video settings is pretty much impossible right now, no matter what hardware you have. Best to wait until BIS optimizes the engine a bit more and hope that SLI setups will be fully supported.

As for your problem, what video settings are you running?

Here is my current driver settings used for ARMA II. Any suggestions. Honestly I don't think altering these settings will do the trick. Either NVIDIA or Bohemia need to release a new update.

Anisotropic filtering - application controlled

antialising - gamma correction - on

antialiasing - mode - application controlled

antialiasing - transparency - supersampling

conformant texture clamp - use hardware

maximum pre-rendered frames - 8

SLI performance mode - NVIDIA recommended

Texture filtering - negative LOD bias - allow

Texture filtering - quality - high performance

texture filtering - trilinear optimization - on

Threaded optimization - Auto

Triple buffering - off

Vertical sync - use 3D application

In game settings...everything maxed out. distance is around 3000

any suggestions?

Sammson, turn the video-memory setting down to "Very High" if it's currently on default. This could be the/a source of your stability problems - at least it was for me.

Aslo, for better performance with minimal visual quality reduction, I'd recommend reducing object detail and Terrain detail to high or normal in-game, and setting vertical sync to "Force off" in the NVidia driver settings.

Video Memory is set to very high and vertical synch is set to force off. Ive tried every possible combination. No luck.

It may indeed have something to do with the video drivers, I've had issues with Vista and nvidia drivers for several games.

as also reported we are many that have that combo(i7 + gtx 2xx) and not having problems.

Try experimenting with the "Video memory" setting ingame, changing mine from default to high removed my CTD's!

Similar system. Same problems. Not sure if it was 1.04 patch, or me fiddling with settings. At some point a month or so ago I did have stable gameplay.

edit: pretty sure it is 1.04

I've changed my video memory and no resolution. I'd like to demand a refund as this game is not playable for more than 15 minutes

i removed one graphics card and same issue. I've tried both NVIDIA drivers, same issue, all I can do now is wait for windows 7 and hope that fixes it. Or play the game with the lowest settings. But whats the point in that. Maybe ill just get ofp2. I heard similar issues with that as well though. CAN SOMEONE WHO HAS A I7+GTX 2XX THAT DOES NOT GET A CTD PLEASE LIST WHAT OS, NVIDIA DRIVER, ARMA PATCH, IN GAME SETTING AND DRIVER SEETINGS THEY HAVE...PLEASE LIST ALL SETTINGS..INCLUDING BIOS...if you don't mind :)

THanks!

Sammson you are not alone. Arma 2 crashes for many of us. See this thread.

It's very annoying that this issue is still not resolved. :(

I take it all back. I upgraded to windows 7, maxed out all settings and now it runs like a champ!!!! no CTD's... nothing, runs perfect! The only thing I noticed different between vista and windows 7 is that in vista if I went to task manager its shows that I have 4 GB, 2 used and 34 mb available. In windows 7 it shows 4 GB and 2 GB available. It seems that vista recognized the 4GB or ram but was only using 2048. Windows 7 sees all 4 and is able to use all 4. Personally I made no changes other than upgraded to Windows 7. GAME ON!!!!

I had the problems of crash with arma2.

By Advanced Options video of arma2 I changed the parameter memory, by default to normal.

I use the resolution 3d and the interface 1280*720, now appears to be stable.

My pc:

motherboard: asus p6t deluxe v2 - 6Gb RAM

video: asus engtx285

windows 7 64 bit home premium
