Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted September 7, 2009 Squad and team are 2 separate things. A standard US infantry squad consists of 9 soldiers. 1 squad leader and 2 fire teams consisting of 1 team leader, 1 SAW gunner, 1 M203 gunner, and another rifleman. They will all be armed with M4 carbines, except the SAW gunner who will be armed with an M249. Other countries, obviously, will have a different organization. BronzeEagle 2 Posted September 7, 2009 keep in mind thats just for the army. in the marines its a squad of twelve with three fireteams of four. mg, heavy weapons, grenadier, and rifleman, and you replace the rifleman with medic if you need to or mg gets a m240 instead of a law sometimes depending on the mission. Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted September 8, 2009 so no soldiers carry AT weapons? :o thanks dude, appreciated! If they aren't expecting to run into armored fighting vehicles, then no, a squad is not going to be carrying anything. Some amount of AT-4s and Javelins would be carted around by whatever they use as a transport, but unless they need them or are expecting them, then that's where they will stay. Relemar 10 Posted September 8, 2009 is it same for the UK forces?
Pathy 0 Posted September 8, 2009 Heheh. No. A British Light Infantry Platoon is a HQ, plus 3 Rifle sections. Each rifle section is 8 men, which inturn breaks down into two fireteams. The exact composition varies, but the basic jist of it is 2x LMG, 6x Rifle. Expect to see most platoons on ops having UGL in there, and maybe even an LSW inplace of a rifleman.
