Razorman 10 Posted September 5, 2009 Wow is the best way to describe the difference between running Arma2 on windows 7 compared to the other 2 main operating systems, XP & Vista. I run 2 rigs of the same spec (see sig) side by side in my home office. I dual boot one between XP & Vista & the other Vista & Windows 7 Arma 2 installed across all 4 operating systems, one Steam & one Metaboli german download version, patched to english, they all communicate & play well over lan in co-op & both machines can play online at the same time as both diff legit copies. Results as follows: Arma 2 1920x1200 all details very high except terrain detail to low & post processing disabled. Vista = average 33fps XP = average 42fps W7 = average 55fps! Looks fantastic & plays smooth as butter. The rigs are well maintained with all latest official drivers. We are having an awsome time online, superb work BI, can't w8 for expansions & patches. nuxil 2 Posted September 5, 2009 your test is faulty unless its a clean install of each Os. if your Xp install is lets say 3 month old install and your win 7 is 1 week... offcource you will get better results in win7. do a clean install of each os then do the test,
Cain_ 10 Posted September 5, 2009 Make sure to do the installation of both 3 system at the same time, during full moon aswell! (This way the moons gravity on earth is the same) Good Luck!
Binkowski 26 Posted September 5, 2009 I had a drastic performance increase from XP 32bit to 7 64bit, probably because of my 4GB's of RAM but still.
dlnorthc 10 Posted September 6, 2009 Does ArmA 2 utilize DirectX 10 at all? Remember XP has no support for it, if it does it seems natural that Vista/7 would run the game better. The same was true for me for Crysis -- I was amazed how much being able to turn the graphics up actually HELPED my ability to play the game. :)

Maybe it's about the computer it's played on
