Useless AT Soldiers?!?

Recommended Posts

Ok,i dont know if that has been mentioned before, but this is more then annoying, rather call it gamebreaking.Actually AT Soldiers are useless, cause if u order them to fire on a BMP 3 or other armored targets they REALLY use there rifle....comon whats the problem?

They guy shoot like 2 magazines on it,luckiky survived and then went completly crazy as he started to switch between his SMAW and his Rifle.

Same with the Javelin......;-(

I know they won't use the javelin unless they are at the proper distance, In fact I've had one break formation and move far enough away to be able to use it. I think with the SMAW it has something to do with line of sight and obstacles. They don't seem to try and find a better position to fire from as I've seen them pull it out, scope the target, put it away and use the rifle without firing the SMAW.

I experienced good results when having two AT guys following me with "Engage at will" command. They repeatedly engaged multiple targets as soon as they were in sight (they have been in range all the time, between houses).

Hmmmm, my AT guys always fire their launchers? SMAW, Javelin and RPG. Once I thought my guy was being a numtard and not firing. Turns out he had run 200m towards the target to get in range which took over a minute, as he was under fire. Engage at will can be quite interesting as they will fire SMAW at infantry targets which, can be very annoying.

Questions.

Were the guys.... in a SP game, placed in editor or another class given AT launchers?

What was their skill?

My comments exactly, having your AI squad set to "Engage at will" is the best way to move into combat with them.

The easy way to make sure all your AI have this set is after you have recruiting them, hit the Tilda key ~ it's the key left of the #1 on the top row, above your Tab. This will select all AI under your command at once, then hit 3 & 5 keys, again on the top row of your keyboard, not the number pad.

By hitting these 3 keys you have done the following;

~ - Select all AI

3 - Opens Engage menu

5 - Selects Engage at will

These shortcut key combination's are good to learn as they make it easy in combat to give orders and movement quickly.

My RPG guys refuse to fire at anything armored almost always. There's the occasional time when they run out of forest, across clear ground either to Hulk-throw the armored vehicle away or fire at it from 50m. I don't know which cause they always die.

I'm just waiting for the day an AI soldier actually saves his AT projectiles for a real tank, as opposed to deciding that 1 insurgent deserves death-by-smaw. Vast majority of the time I never see how they perform against vehicles/armour because by the time they've got there, they're out of ammo for whatever their AT weapon is, having expended it on infantry.

i have no problem that the ai is blowing one insurgend with a AT wepon solong he takes the HE ammo and not wasting his tandem heat worheds(two in my case).
