Sound engine (sound physics)

Recommended Posts

Sorry for Insulting Bohemia....BI Should Create a Sound Engine...Sound that reacts to its enviroment and imitates realworld Sound PHysics EX:

Gunfire and sounds should sound Difrent at diffrent distances, like Explosions Gunfire should travel at the Speed of sound, gunfire should sound difrent inside buildings...In Short they should create Sound Physics

Although its pretty crap that you cant use dedicated HW for sounds in this game i have to say that the sounds and the soundengine itself is pretty good. Could be better though.

And most, if not all things you mentioned are already ingame.

EDIT: And whats up with the retarded topictitle? You dont need to add +'s >'s or whatever type of sign you find on your keyboard to attract our attention. If we want to read the topic we do, putting stupid signs on the title just annoys people and makes you look *random insult here*.

The sound engine already takes occlusion into account. I do agree there's still lots to wish for though, but at the same time it is a question about CPU priority. The CPU can only do a certain amount of calculations at one time, and it is a logarithmic increase in CPU power needed to perform stuff as you make it more advanced.

I do surely hope that the calculations for sound occlusion can be improved, and maybe even that we can get echoes since it could assist greatly in making urban combat nightmarishly noisy and certain situations very confusing to fight in as almost everything echoes (imagine some curvy, rocky valley).

Still, I can't blame BIS if we don't get it. I don't know any other game that has very advanced sound engines either.

Nah i'm pretty sure its you.

i think its sad that people don't notice this...cause BIS sounds make the game boring...I think you people are fanboys and fanboys inhibit something from progressing...

As somebody has mentioned before, why don't you go and play your favorite project reality mod instead of annoying a gaming community who's looking for a different experience?

Please, someone bring the huge :padlock: !

I think no one cares here if you have a fancy Phenom. There are people with less powerful cpus and unfortunately you're not the middle of the world.

I also told you already not to spam the forums with your "sound request" stuff.

If the sounds are your only problem then you're lucky, and if they bother you that much then well - go back to your BF2 and Half-Life games.

I leave the thread open for now, atleast until the next insult, flaming or bashing takes place.

Don't bullets make a really cool supersonic hiss when they pass close. Awesome snapping and the sound of dirt kicking up, kinda serves like a regenerative health system, you know you gotta kill something fast or find some cover when you start hearing that. I dont think any game does that (because you would have to model individual bullets as objects for that to work wouldnt you?). I love it. Still get the weird static and changes in volume in large firefights tho.
