CrazyAviator 10 Posted August 22, 2009 Does anyone have an nVidia GTX 275 or know how it runs ARMA 2? The price on newegg is down to $220 for this card and its got outstanding reviews. It comes with 896MB- I'm not sure if this is going to be bad for a game like ARMA. The price jump to something with more video memory is steep though. Heres all the specs # Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA # Core Clock: 633MHz # Stream Processors: 240 Processor Cores # Memory Clock: 2268MHz # DirectX: DirectX 10 # OpenGL: OpenGL 3.0 # DVI: 2 # TV-Out: HDTV Out # Model #: 896-P3-1170-AR # Item #: N82E16814130475

[GLT] Legislator 66 Posted August 22, 2009 I've got a GTX 275 for 4 months now and ArmA II runs great on it. Usually I've got around 30 to 35 fps in a normal sized mission (I haven't tested the campaign yet). But be prepared for frame drops especially in huge towns or in missions with lots of units and/or objects. On ArmA II Sahrani you can get up to 40 to 60 fps with a good mission! And my resolution is 1920x1200. You can set details to medium, high & very high. You don't need to set everything to high so it looks good. Some feature still look good in medium. Just see for yourself :) Be sure to have a quad core cpu. Although ArmA II doesn't scale the cpu usage perfectly I noticed a performance increase (E6750 @ 3.5 ghz compared to Q9550 @ 3.4 ghz). nuggetz 0 Posted August 22, 2009 What kinda CPU do you have? You might be disappointed if you just upgrade your video card and have a crap CPU. I'd upgrade my CPU before anything. You need both actually. The only people with decent frame rates are those with top end video cards and top end processors.

ICE-Raver 10 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) Man I just bought this 280 on newegg for $224 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130427 Not sure why it is showing up as $239 but anyway. It is recertified but I could care less. It has a 90 day warranty return policy and has ran great for me. Maybe worth a look man. More card for barely more money. I have mine overclocked to 650/1397/1158 core/shader/memory and it runs fantastic. Edited August 23, 2009 by ICE-Raver
CrazyAviator 10 Posted August 23, 2009 Actually Im not upgrading my card because I have to, but because I want to. Im running a 8800GT with a 3.21 GHz CPU (dual core) and although this may be less than some of you the game runs very good. Now that i figured out the BSOD was coming from an overheat, Im hoping that a new video card might be able to run cooler. I could see where a new video card, such as the GTX275 might run cooler in my Tall Tower (Coolermaster Cosmos). I hear its got big beefy fans on it and its why alot of people with small to med towers are having trouble with the fit. My 52 pound Cosmos would probably take it like a champ
