Separete realism from arcade

Recommended Posts

Add option to disable 'spacebar' funcion.

Add option to disable third person perspective view (even in vehicles).

Add option to remove PPM zooming (force to use binoculars to identify target).

And finnaly option to filter servers with those settings.

And extra more idea: When our soldier is tired from running make him finnaly stop and switch to walk till he rest.

Make riding motocycles harder, players should fall from them when turning with high speed on grass etc:D

"When our soldier is tired from running make him finnaly stop and switch to walk till he rest."

Fail.

No offence, but if I am running and am tired, atm we cannot shoot well/accurate till we catch our breathe. But, at least we can still run somewhat to EVADE enemy fire if the need was therer, to find cover.

all of these can be solved by the you, the player. Nothing is forcing you to use 3rd person, zoom, or the high-command (I think that's what you meant by spacebar). All of these are to give the player better situational awareness since playing on a 2D monitor and real life are totally different.

There's a lot of other things that need to be worked on for more realism like "hot" reloads (where if you reload with a round still in the chamber you get 31 rounds instead of 30); weight restrictions (being able to carry M4 w/SMAW+3rounds still having the same stamina as someone who isn't carrying anything); and better damage modeling; all of which we can't change (at least not without mods if possible).

With spacebar he means the slightly magical IFF system. Personally I don't mind it being there, as it allows guys with lower graphical settings to be able to identify friend from foe as good as a guy using everything maxed. I would like it to have a builtin random delay though of 2-5 seconds, and/or distance based delay. For me, it simulates squinting your eyes, or consentrating hard, in an attempt of getting a better look to identify the target. I don't find the idea magical at all.

As for third person view, the problem is you get a waaaaay too god overview over the situation. Naturally I can avoid using it myself. But it kills immersion to see the guy in front of you staring down and into a tall brick wall in which he take no safety precautions when he clears the corner few seconds later. Because he was using 3rd person, not me.

Seems to me OFP DR got this better, by disallowing 3rd person view from infantery completely. I don't mind the idea of 3rd person in vehicles due to the extremely limited view we sometimes get (no mirrors, buggy turn out, no interiour view etc), but I don't like how a tank driver can get the full and complete overview as he does in todays 3rd person view. It should be locked to a steep angle where it aids your spatial awareness, but not as now where you get complete situational awareness (see all nearby infantry enemies i.e.).

For settings, server should dictate the maximum amount of help you could allow to set, but it would be up to you if you want to make it harder for yourself.

Spacebar is fine for lower difficulties, but the identification and range finding should at least be disabled on expert.

Zoom should stay, anyone who did any searching of it knows why. Even max zoomed in you can't ID targets as far as you would be able to IRL.

3rd person disabling is already in the game on expert difficulty, which is fine. I do wish more servers would play on expert, though, at least in PvP.
