Buy ArmA

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I have a question for you!

I tried ArmA and ArmA2...

The Second doesn't looks like a simulation so I want to buy the First One and there, download XAM Mod (Xtrem Arma Mod).

But...

Do you think I have to wait for patches for ArmA2?

I prefer realism...

Thanks for reading!

PS: Sorry, I'm French and I can't speak English very well

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the answer...

But is the 1st better? I prefer realism and simulation games. After having played to the Demo Version of ArmA2, I think it doesn't looks like a simu'...

Thanks!

Overall the second game is better, but since Arma 1 had tons of patches that game is just less bugged then arma 2.

So play and have fun with Arma and buy arma2 a couple of months later

After playing both the demo and the full version of ArmA2 I can say that I don't see any difference in terms of realism between the two.

So, if you think that the ArmA2 demo is less realistic than ArmA1 with XAM, you can safely ignore ArmA2 for the time being. You might want to check again when the Arrowhead addon is available.

OK, thanks everyone!

Alpha-Kilo: I think ArmA2 is less realistic than the first one because choppers and planes are easiest to pilot, because sometimes, it looks like unreal (not bugs, just scenario...)...

Marc, I thought the chopper-flying was pretty much the same in both games.

It felt identical to me.

They probably made plane-flying easier in Arma II to prevent all the stalling that was happening in Arma. I couldn't even fly an A-10.

I bought Arma II already but it's sitting on a shelf now - I'm fiddling with the demo. So far, my biggest complaint is how dark, dismal and depressing everything looks. The "darkness" of the game makes it much harder for me to acquire targets. The super-bright, washed out, tropical look in Arma was perfect for me. I'm not much in to scrub-woodlands combat.

I'd say that was one of the big things about ArmA2 that made it harder for me, also the realism does stay pretty true in ArmA 2, but ArmA1 is a lot easier for me to get around the dquad command system for some reason :P

I tried ArmA1 and 2 and I think that choppers are easiest to pilot in the second one.

The "darkness"? I can see a target from 1 000 meters!

But the tropical-look of ArmA was better, I agree.

Hi,

After having downloaded the Demo Version, I launch the Game...

And there, an error message:

"Cannot create 3D device:

Adapter 0 (RADEON 9250 (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)) Fullscreen Resolution 800x600, format X8R8G8B8/A8R8G8B8/DS24S8, refresh 75 Hz.

Heeelp!

Hope you enjoy it Marc - we need all the Arma players we can get these days.

I only played the first scenario in Arma 2 and it looked REALLY dingy. The only French word I found for that Marc was "sombre". But add a little bit of "dirty" to that word and you've got my meaning.

Some places in Arma 2 I could see fine...others were terribly dark.....and "dingy". :p

You're right my master :p

ArmA 2 have beautiful landscapes but they're too dark!

Do you think ArmA can be to maximum graphics with a GeForce 9800 GT???

I can play ArmA 1 just fine and enjoy it but I can't get audio to work for ArmA 2 demo; I can't understand what is going on.

No, not maximum. But you should do okay as long as you have a good cpu.

Doesn't the demo ask to install OpenAL?
