thedudesam 10 Posted August 13, 2009 Hi i recently bought a 4870, and i had no idea the card was so huge, and i had to sacrifice 3 of my 4 SATA port's to fit it in, unfortunately one of those ports was my DVD drive. Now im getting an external DVD drive next week hopefully, but i REALLY want to try ArmA on my new graphics card. Is there anyway BIS could be kind enough to make my 505 disc based product key work so i can activate it on steam that way i won't need the disc, just a thought. -RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted August 13, 2009 nope. No other answer. it has Secure-Rom and you need the disk physically in. I would think it would read it from your new External drive. But that's a guess. I use the Steam version so I can't test.
Bulldogs 10 Posted August 13, 2009 Yeah, external DVD works fine but as mentioned, no, Steam uses a different key system so you'll just have to wait unforunately. Although, in the mean time you can open the side of the case and hang the dvd drive out. Not the safest option but it's a good temporary solution
thedudesam 10 Posted August 14, 2009 I see, yeah i did think of the whole hanging out of the case thing, but it's a tad risky xD
f2k sel 145 Posted August 14, 2009 I think there are some low profile SATA cables which have worked for some people.
