Campaign needs to be addressed

Recommended Posts

A couple of issues I found:

  • Be able to have soldiers on your team die and then new ones are replaced instead of losing and restarting each time
  • When in command mode still be able to order your soldiers to be stealthy etc..
  • Make a bigger area of entry on vehicles instead of hunting around for an area to enter it
  • When you order your soldier to stop they will still take cover not just stand there
  • Fix the wandering around when your in tight areas and make team more aware to take cover all the time.
  • Use military call outs like enemy at 11 o'clock. Not enemy far in front
  • Sound on guns needs inprovement. Sound is to wimpy on alot.
  • Fix the team callouts. The call outs for enemy sighted etc is way to robotic and kills

Few bugs I have encountered:

  • When you wounded the graphics look like your in a time warp.
  • Stop the blurring when you turn.

1.) Have you beaten it yet? You will understand at the end why it is like this. Granted you could work around it but I like it the way it is.

Other than that none of those issues have to do with the campaign.

The blurring can be turned off in your options by the way.

Stealing ur thread.

Does anyone know if there is some kind of voice command software for ArmA. Imagine beeing able to tell you squad to be stealthy or to engage. Now that would be AWESOME!!

none yet, but you could try making a script to hotkey stealth and tell windows voice command to voice activate that key when you say it... though that's complicated and not even sure if it'd work.

But back to the original post. I actual prefer it the way it is as oppose to the way you want it in most aspects although I agree with you that there should be some tighter way to handle it, like as you mentioned the "Stop" not taking cover. They do when they are in danger mode and you're better off putting them straight into danger mode as they'll instantly go prone and stop or crawl to safety, but the danger mode is in a secondary menu that's harder to get to than just going to "stop"

I'd also like AI to take cover better, although that's difficult to program in an open world without scripting. Then if you did have that you'd encounter problems like Band of Brothers (order AI to take cover at a wall and they take cover on either side of the wall making half the team take enemy fire)

As for the time warp bug, I had that in 1.01 beta patch (or at least a similar thing, was like looking through a crystal) but now it's just blurry vision as it's meant to be (shock/trauma)

Personally I like having to keep the AI alive, I just wish they were better at keeping themselves alive, I also like that when you're under fire and running for a vehicle you can't just jump in through the windscreen.

And the blurry when you turn, as mentioned, turn post processing off (also fixes the being shot issue) When under fire it's a lot of fun having the blur effect on 'cause it adds to the intensity, but it becomes like a hollywood action film. Shake the camera around and it looks more intense, but at the same time you can't quite tell what's going on.

I've tried the campaign three times now (started over twice during 1.02 and again in 1.03)

After I've made decent progress in the larger missions my game locks up on me at the moment I'm thinking hmmm I should save it now...pisses the hell outta me

Oh well, back to the editor where I make my own fun, not as exciting but at least it's something :)

PiLfluS doesnt work on Win7. Ive downloaded the VAC trial but i cant get it to recognize the commands in game. If i speak em out loud while in VAC they are reccognized but as soon as i switch to the game it doesnt reccognize em.

Next patch. Apparently.

It's marked as 'assigned' so there's a dev on it. Seems a trivial enough problem to fix that there's no reason to believe it won't be.

All new features apparently get set to assigned. I think it's just part of the workflow. Doubt it means BIS is definately working on it.

I think new features/bug reports are marked as 'new'. If there's a problem with the report or lack of information, the issue's moved to the 'feedback' state.

The developers both read and comment on the issues in the tracker. Marking everything as 'assigned' wouldn't make sense...

Hey I never said it made any sense... lol. But unless I see it assigned to a specific dev (ex: Suma) I wouldn't look into it much. I mean, even if it is assigned doesn't mean they will be guarunteed to fix/change it.
