Original ArmA 2 AddOns folder?

Recommended Posts

I've been downloading addons and thrown them into the AddOns folder, but as I've been getting more and more addons, I've run into problems connecting to multiplayer servers (Some servers don't allow them and I guess that's understandable)..

Some of the addons are also kinda bugged and gives me errors in the editor and when starting the game..

I bought it via Steam, so if I uninstall it, I have to download it again..

So - hoping that I can avoid that, I'd like to ask if there's a kind person who could take a screenshot of the original/unaltered AddOns folder, or make a list of the files in it...

i will post it in a bit. i am curently reinstalling the game myself, for exact same reason. just that you know, some addons, like the sound addon (vopsound 2.1) have a key for server, that you put in the folder called "keys". this way you wont get kicked. this time i will install just a few trusted addons that actually making the game better.

I used to do that too (bad habit from ofp), best way to do it is to place each addon in it's own folder and start with -mod=mod1;mod2;etc

Thank you very much Planck!

Bulldogs, I was wondering if I couldn't just make ONE modfolder and put all mods into that one?

Yeah don't do that. It's a huge pain in the ass once a ton of AddOns/Mods come out and one of them conflicts with others. It becomes a mess when the .pbos are all together and sorting it out becomes a headache. Mod folders all the way and keep the main AddOns folder free from non-BIS .pbos.

That's my 2 cents on the matter... speaking from personal experience.

Skippie,

You can do that but that still makes it difficult to keep track of things. Best way is to set up some type of system. But some Mods/AddOns may require their own folder structure and need the Mod folder setup it came packed in.

I use:

@UE (User Editor) -for user made islands and objects.

@BLU -BLUFOR stuff

@MISC -for misc AddOns

@CBA -for CBA

@ACE -for a mod, like ACE in this example

and so on. I also have a "Disabled" folder in each mod folders AddOns folder so I can easily remove .pbos I don't want to use for the moment. It makes it a helluva lot easier to keep stuff organized, sort out conflicts and "deactivate" certain content.

Yep, you can do that, but just like the normal mod folder it can become a mess when you have too many and you don't know what's causing the conflict. I got in the habit of putting 4 mods in each folder so it's easier to narrow down.
