Softt 10 Posted July 20, 2009 I spent $2200 dollars today on a computer and i'd say about 75% of the reason was to play this game in all its glory. I bought a core i7 920 I plan on overclocking and a Evga gtx 295. I come to the forums only to find out that my computer is not going to run this game properly because of my video card? Has BI given any sort of update on the issues with the Gtx 295? This is extremely disappointing to me.
WYZe1 10 Posted July 20, 2009 what makes you think that your not going to able to run it? i have a GTS 250 and it runs decent, so you should be fine, its all about tweaking your system for this game, until it gets some better optimization
ModeZt 0 Posted July 20, 2009 have you tried nvidia beta drivers with sli support for arma2?
Softt 10 Posted July 20, 2009 Everything I am reading on here from ppl with a gtx 295 say they are getting bad framerates. Your GTS 250 is single gpu is probably why. The game doesn't make use of both gpu's that my card will have? ---------- Post added at 10:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:17 PM ---------- I haven't tried anything yet ModeZT :P. My parts wont be arriving until Wed. I just haven't read any good things about the 295 so far :(. I'm preparing myself for disappointment

Lauxman 10 Posted July 20, 2009 I have a single GTX 275 896MB and a core i7 920, and the game runs perfectly on very high settings.
galzohar 31 Posted July 20, 2009 It's a GTX 295 specific problem, for those that hadn't been following. Though not everyone have been having problems, so if you already paid and can't replace it, don't get angry before you tried the solutions suggested by those that did get it to work. igeighty 2 Posted July 20, 2009 Although you probably wont be able to run the game at 100fps (you wont) you will be able to play the game with playable framerates. the GTX295 is not being utilized properly at this stage with arma2. whether that is a BIS or an nvidia issue is not certain. at work the demo machine is a i7920 @ 4.2ghz, evga classified x58, gtx295, 6GB ram and i am able to get a steady 25-35 fps. in the campaign and online. so it is far from unplayable @1920x1280 on highest settings, 150%fill rate and high AA. this is not a super high FPS, but it is certainly VERY playable. and it looks beautiful. my home machines are in my signature and i get similar frame rates. @1920x1080 on both of them. when i say similar, id say within 5 fps within what the i7 gives. and i still enjoy the game. SLI is not working in this game as it does in most others, nor does it work as well as it 'should' with arma1 or VBS2, however with the hardware you have. you will have a decent experience with the game. My advice would be to enjoy the hardware and enjoy the game, and not worry too much about frame rates. as it will be definably playable for you. I once spent $4500 (in 1995 dollars) on a pentium 166 system to play mechwarrior2 and didn't get very good fps on that either, It was the best computer I could buy at the time. i still enjoyed the hardware and the games it played. Dont stress too much about FPS you 'might' get with your new hardware, just enjoy it for what it is and hope that a driver or patch will utilise it for the future. You will have a great PC, and no amount of money will get you the magic 60fps constant on this game. sorry but that's just how it is. Enjoy what you have and think about others who get 10-15 fps maximum :) No offence is meant by this post, just try and put things in perspective. And maybe do a little research on the subject before dropping such a large amount of cash into a gaming box for ONE particular game. There have been many benchmarks and roadtests showing that the 295 is not performing nearly as much as it costs. good luck with your new toy, and I hope you enjoy it thoroughly. Droc 10 Posted July 20, 2009 I play on a stock clocked C2D E6400, 4GB ram, 9600GT and Vista. I run at 1680x1050 with most settings to high or normal. I get playable frames. /no pity
