Cpt.Goose 10 Posted July 16, 2009 So today the Dev's released another developer diary. There are many posts screaming for a patch release, also there are many forums begging BIS to release information on the patch progress and keeping the community informed. Response to those posts often include the few that say "there working on it, it's done when it's done" "why would you want them to take the time out of there day when they could use it towards working on the patch?" So why then are they taking there time recording video's and releasing "helpful" insight to how to use the game. BIS how about focusing on that Patch? How about instead of making video's to show how to play the game you first get that patch out so many can actually play the game and enjoy it. Then we will worry about making a mission, I can tell you the majority of the community would vote for a patch release before the next Dev's Video. Please get your priorities straight based on your customers feedback and requests. After all it's our purchases that pay your salary's. Even if you have everyone working on the patch and the guy who releases the video would never be assigned to the patch, it's just bad PR and image on your part. shadowze 1 Posted July 16, 2009 I feel a disturbance in the forum I sense a thread lock coming on Place your bets
Cpt.Goose 10 Posted July 16, 2009 haha why do you say that? my good friend moderator will surely not mind this... it has a title, a little talking of the game and the newest video you can now watch via there website, and a suggestion to the company. I have valid points related directly to the game and a general topic of my choice posted in the ARMA 2 general forums... :D:yay:
Daniel 0 Posted July 16, 2009 Even if you have everyone working on the patch and the guy who releases the video would never be assigned to the patch, it's just bad PR and image on your part. Sure you didn't just answer your own question? BIS patch a hell of a lot more than many other big gaming companies. I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. BIS are no doubt applying as many resources to the next patch as they deem necessary, i'm sure the troubleshooting forum gives them a clear enough picture. No such thing as bad publicity? :P
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted July 16, 2009 I like the idea of a dev diary, for the exact reason that it shows us they are willing to take the time and do cool stuff for the community rather than locking themselves in their office all day and slaving away on ArmA2. chaplainDMK 10 Posted July 16, 2009 Isnt the guy thats making these vids the lead designer? As in the guy that thinks up the game and then spawns millions of his pawns from the depths of Hades do his bidding?!
-=seany=- 5 Posted July 16, 2009 I like the Dev diaries. keep 'em coming thank you. To the OP:- 1 video is not going to slow down the patch development  and I'm sure they are very capable of managing their time...
Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 16, 2009 Jan Prazak who make the Developer Diaries is their PR guy. So I don't think working on the game code is part of his job ;)
Gryphonheart 10 Posted July 16, 2009 First part was ok, second was absolutely boring.. especially for OFP and ArmA1 players I think. Nevertheless, I hope that they'll also explain more than how to move and how to place myself in a editor.. like how to use editor in a more complicated way or some tips and hints for the campaign, like ordering the stupid tanks in the squad not to kill Rodriguez or O'Hara each time they try to move.. bravo 6 0 Posted July 16, 2009 The idea is good to initialize new players to the game and to the editor. For those who are experienced in this field can be boring but I'm sure a lot will understand the hole meaning of the editor diary. I personally would like to see a more complexed and new features but i understand everything has to start from the begining. Good luck BIS with this good iniciative. vasmkd 12 Posted July 16, 2009 I don't mind those videos either as i can learn something b4 my copy gets delivered. They really are not very time consuming and maybe he could be waiting on others to finish something on the patch b4 he can move to next phase so why not do the vid or something else in that time. I'm 100% sure they know time is money and there priority is to fix things so we continue to buy their products in future like addon campaigns, ARMA3;) etc. These forums are here for a reason, to listen and try and meet our demands on this wonderful game i only have played the demo of so far. I'm sure BIS will bring out many patches in the future, add russian campaign, other fractions campaigns etc as there is demand for it. OFP was their 1st game i played and loved and i would say this one will have similar outcome as we all were happy with OFP patches addons coming later. Id'e kill for a russian campaign/added vehicles and other fraction ones but it takes time and for the moment we can play something.
