Tuntsa 10 Posted July 13, 2009 OK so I did this thread, because I dont want to spend 50€ to game if it have only deathmatch gamemode. The graphics are amazing and realistic, really! Like marines are really marines. Like I mean, they have right helmet, glasses, camouflage (marpat), vests and even boots. BUT I want to know am I able to speak with my teammates on online? Is there better gamemodes and stuff? Overall is the game worth buying to a guy, who wants realistic game with no freaking deathmatch gamemodes. It's OK if there's that gamemode, but I hope that players would play more the "other" gamemodes.

This game is a whole lot of fun, especially if you have friends to play with. I never play against other players, just multiplayer coop, but it's a blast. The one thing you should know is that there are A LOT of performance issues w/this game for certain systems. Go to the "Support" forums and look at all the posts. If you were able to run the demo and play multiplayer w/good performance then i'd say go ahead and buy it. I'd definitely try the demo first to see how it runs on your system, I have a pretty good system and i only squeeze out 28-33fps.
lastn1ght 10 Posted July 13, 2009 also ask yourself even if you can run the game, are you going to be OK running it with low settings? I game on a laptop, and although it's maxed out with quad core mobile extreme processor, 4 GB hdd3 ram, my vid card is only a gt 130m. Pretty solid, but I can't run this baby on max settings. Luckily the gameplay is fun and makes up for the reduced quality.
H-street 10 Posted July 13, 2009 my suggestion, either get the demo for Arma2 or go buy Arma1 for cheap (its 6$ here in the US used now) and see if you like it. if you like Arma1 you will probably love Arma2. the main difference between the 2 besides more bells and whistles graphically is the campaign for Arma2 seems to be a bit more mainstream. There was clearly an effort to streamline the singleplayer campaign in Arma2 and make it a much more a complete package to ease the player into the game. Also the character models are vastley improved over Arma1 as far as multiplayer modes go, there are far more than just Deathmatch. the one i love is an official MFCTI mode. Think of RTS mixed with objective modes like BF1942 etc. Take the village, get resources, build more unites etc.. etc.. And not to metion the coveted Co-Op gameplay (One of the few games still bringing us Co-Op multiplayer). Think Rainbow 6 style co-op only on a grand scale. p75 10 Posted July 13, 2009 Well worth it. But you need a decent pc.
Jimmy the Saint 10 Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) I agree, the COOP gameplay part can be alot of fun when you gather people around you, who are willing to play the game like it is intended to be - mainly a military infantry simulation (not a arcade/action fps game). *oh and for all it is worth - sometimes it may take time and patience to plan and arrive at the battlefield, but those moments before the battle begins until everybody is in position and ready to attack can be very much intense and cannot be compared to simplified fps-shooters. Windexglow 10 Posted July 13, 2009 At the moment, I'd wait on it. Tons of bugs, performance problems, and a quite cheery moderation squad.
TCEd 0 Posted July 13, 2009 ^^^ doesn't know what he's talking about, I got the game, very limited bugs, very good performace, not sure what a cheery moderation squad is, but ok........ shoot'cha it's worth it, get it...... you won't be sorry............. Really you don't know what your talking about. To OP, the problem with asking that question here is that all the fanboys come on here.Just look at the troubleshooting forum and you'll see the problems the plague this game. I'd say wait a while. Tuntsa 10 Posted July 13, 2009 I already have tested the demo, but I hate that theres only deathmatch. yes my computer isn't decent but it runs the game in normal and few things were on high and FPS was awerage 20. Resolution was very big. But I tested it with demo... I don't know if it's same is it whole game or demo, I mean do you get better fps on demo than whole game? How does the squad thing work? I mean is it like in PR ( Project Reality )? Just join to the squad and Squadleader tells what to do? How does the communication work? I mean I really dont want to type everything to chat while the game is on :). If you know what Im talkin about.

Demo has quite a few MP modes in it, COOP included. from what I've seen in the full game, squad assignment in big Coop servers (Evolution) is quite similar to Project Reality's. the game has VOIP, I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty sure you can make it squad-specific. so you don't have to type anything at all. :)
