.kju 3241 Posted July 14, 2009 Did some tests too. Can confirm your finds KJT. Great work. :) Indeed A2 has reduced object drawing distance to 40-50%. :(
whisper 0 Posted July 16, 2009 So much wrong info in here..setViewDistance 1800 => object viewable distance 1200 = 66% of sVD. In A2 terrain is drawn further - probably full sVD. Some special objects are drawn further than 66% too. Radar or locking distance is full sVD. Unless config values tweak it higher or less. Terrain and objects affect radar too. Don't like it? Disable locking and tweak AI recognition and engagement ranges. EDIT : Erf, nvm, looks like I didn't read the thread to its end :(
pj[cz] 2 Posted July 16, 2009 Would be actually very nice if BI put a simple option to set draw distance just under viewdistance, so if you are about to fly you put both high and when on foot you can lower the draw distance. This "bug" is major annoyance when flying high velocity aircraft, i even find myself much more effective using VTOL to engage in jets and that is just ridiculous
Baron von Beer 0 Posted August 2, 2009 (edited) Just to add. My view distance is @ 3069. Objects appear at 1258 meters. Step back to 1259, gone, forward a meter, back. This is horrible, because they still engage without issue. This needs attention. Getting killed by units your looking right at, but are invisible, can really sap the enjoyment.
