Streetlights ?

Recommended Posts

I have searched. How come their not particularly luminous - they dont seem to actually 'light' anything up - will this be patched ?

Just had a look and they seem to give out the right amount of light for me, its the amount of light I see from the streetlights over here.

To be honest I am happy they finally got ride of the place one streetlight and light up half the island ones.

They were significantly brighter in OFP - come too think of it though, looking out my window, it is about right ;)....

I think the problem is that when the lights are too bright it makes the textures look awful, because the lights (other than the sun/moon) don't react to bump mapping. I wish the same would be done for vehicles and flares.

The streetlights are excellent. One of the coolest things I've seen in a video game is a single streetlamp pooling orange radiance on two houses and a car, with complete and utter blackness outside the circle of light, miles and miles of wilderness and blindness. It was in a valley and the glow was the only thing visible on the screen.

There would be two lights in ofp and it would light up a whole town it was over done.

Not to mention the camp fire that bathed everything in some strange yellow glow.

Don't forget we now have search lights that can be used.

They should have given us a light in the objects thought that could be attached to anything we wanted.

You can make lights in Arma and it looks just like the others. I stuck a few in a hotel and it was very cool.

EDIT: Try this in a logic:

light = "#lightpoint" createVehicleLocal position this; light setLightBrightness 0.2; light setLightAmbient[0.0, 0.0, 0.0]; light setLightColor[1.0, 1.0, 1.0]; light lightAttachObject [this, [0,0,4]]

Excellent, I never looked at the light options I just thought it was for the whole screen.

Cheers, off to see where I can stick them to good effect.

I have just noticed, actually looking up at the light'bulb', there is no light !, just a very faint glow on the ground. Im in the editor btw and dont want to mess about with logics...

The light they cast is ok... but what about the sky above them?

It looks like games from 1998! Check this pic out:

Thats on maximum settings... the top looks like a "rice hat" / cone with various gradients of the light... very ugly and dated!

Same goes for the lights in the distance! I posted this on another forum for discussion and someone else tested on their machine, same results.
