=Spetsnaz= 0 Posted July 9, 2009 I would like to make a suggestion, i always need the disc to run ArmA 2, now ive noticed when ive looked at the back of my disc ive been getting a few scratches and some heavy looking ones, but disc works well as i only got it 2 days ago. Now ArmA 1 had a patch release which would allow it to run without a disc. I prefer to run without a disc because it does'nt damage it and i don't need to always insert it to play the game which i find a hassle. However i don't know its possible BIS will take this route because of piracy. But i am wondering if it is possible in the later patches? i like to take good care of things i buy and i notice having discs in our drives causes them to get scratched and damaged, and alot more people prefer not needing the disc to run the game. Is this going to be possible?
dmarkwick 261 Posted July 9, 2009 BIS have always removed the disk requirement after the game has been out a while.

Helmut_AUT 0 Posted July 9, 2009 Well likely that they remove the disk check later, but right now the game is much too fresh - took A1 to Patch 1.14 before it happened.
Master gamawa 0 Posted July 9, 2009 what the hell? i never stated anything about being a pirate, i fully own my copy of the game , want a photo? What? Seriously? :) No, I don't need a photo dude! In fact this case belongs to the feds now. You got those fbi spooks on yo' ass brother! I'd like a no disk patch too anyway. I always forget that I have a dvd inside and I often put another dvd on top (as the case is under my desk and I can't see), close it and hear terrible sounds OH SHIT ARMA IS STILL INSIDE STOP IT OPEN IT'S ALL RUINED OH NO SHIT it's fine... Blackbuck 9 Posted July 9, 2009 What an odd little person you are... We could do without the spam... My guess is it will probably be included in a later patch (I don't see any reason for it not to be). @ Helmut, 1.14? I thought it was before then?
dale0404 5 Posted July 9, 2009 Nope, definately 1.14 for the no disc thingy
Blackbuck 9 Posted July 9, 2009 Wow how time does fly with all of those patches :|
Superfast 10 Posted July 9, 2009 I too would like to see this removed. I bought the dvd version because i was afraid of steam compatibility for future mods etc. But i also loathe joggling discs around when playing and hate the drive noise as well, so here i am. I just don't understand why they need it. Isn't the online check of serial numbers enough? The market for playing this as a single player can't be big no? So i really hope you guys consider removing the disc check. Thank you.
Zipper5 74 Posted July 9, 2009 Well it took many patches for OFP and ArmA to have this happen, which took a long period of time. However, I believe it will happen eventually. With ArmA II being so early in it's release, they aren't going to remove it for a while until the piracy issues have died down. You'll just have to take better care of your DVD. =Spetsnaz= 0 Posted July 9, 2009 yea i probably will have to, just i don't want to end up with a badly scratched DVD. I like to take care of my things and i find it a bit annoying having to reinsert the disc all the time
echo1 0 Posted September 23, 2009 It probably won't happen till at least a year after the initial release. And the Arrowhead X-Pack may complicate things.
