Consider those that can't play multiplayer

What problem? Because he can't play Internet and bashing a SINGLE game? How is bis supposed to FIX the fact he can't play on the internet being at sea? Why is this OUR problem? He may as well bash the Navy for not allowing him to play on the internet on a warship. And that's BIS's problem?

They could fix it by making a campaign that isn't total buggy crap...

Admitingly the editor is simply amazing, and if you don't use it you don't know what your missing. But thats not what this thread is about.

If you dont understand whats its about then thats fine, but dont label other people as trolls as it suits you.

Not everyone has access to decent high speed internet and from the few times I've tried MP I much prefer playing with the AI rather than a group of snot nosed , whining little imbeciles.

True if you can get a like minded group together that are willing to play ArmA as a SIMULATOR rather than a glorified rendition of CoD you can have a great game but those experiences are so few and far between it's hardly worth the effort.

Now my service has degraded to the point I can no longer play online but with the editor , a bit of simple scripting once in a while and/or some downloaded content there's unlimited hours of entertainment available.

You don't even need internet to enjoy ArmA.

Patches , additional content etc. can easily be DL'd at a friends (or work),dropped onto a USB stick, brought home and installed. (did that a lot when I was on DU for other games).

Uh.... so what? So you don't have internet. Who cares?

Apparently you do care, since you bothered to answer in a very disrespectful way. These forums are usually very friendly to new and inexperienced users (such as yourself) provided that they behave with normal manners.

;)

Back on topic. I can relate to the problem at hand. For users without stable internet access ArmA2 is currently a bit like Carlsberg Beer: Worth Waiting for.

:)

I am one of those die hard fans that remains assurant that all bugs will be ironed out eventually. Experience tells me that it will take some time though. Be patient. Once you manage to patch yourself up to a stable and working version: Make hardcopies of all required patches on a USB stick and bring them on board. Distribute them to the rest of the crew and everybody should be able to join the same lan-server. You don't necessarily have to run the latest patch, as long as it's working and everyone shares the same version.

Couple things that come to mind looking at the OP. First, they threw CD's overboard? Why? They too big to keep around? You really think they tossed em because the game sucked? Or supposed to have sucked? I'm talking Arma1 which is actually a huge success and a loyal fan base? True when it came out it was unplayable for everybody, but did everybody just throw out the CD's? I know on a Battleship, there's limited room, but you throw out a CD? I just find that hard to believe.

Second, there's a network on the ship. Don't you think someone would have put up a little server and hosted a session? Wiped out a little mission with the editor and had a blast? So by saying it has no multiplayer is incorrect, they could have put a lan party together.

Third: I'm almost through the campaign myself, and what other people were reporting as bugs were actually stupid mistakes on my behalf. I changed the way I commanded my squad and got through those parts. I may have a "gotcha" up ahead, but I'm mostly playing multi-player now.

Forth: Most PC's on a battleship are of the laptop variety. Most laptops aren't supported nor recommended, and in light of the heavy requirements for Arma2 most laptops wouldn't be able to run it anyway very well.

I was a US Navy sailor serving on a ship, and believe it or not, we have VERY limited, RESTRICTED internet access. If you think a ship on the high seas can get internet the way hollywood portrays, you try it someday. And NO, porn is not authorized internet material.

Maybe things have changed, my cousin is on the Reagan and he's able to play World of Warcraft.

This is still a idiotic argument. I mean I guess you guys who have slow, intermittent internet are not trying make a point but just venting a bit. Cause nothing can or will ever be done about it and that is that...no point discussing something that won't change if you have no, little, or limited internet access.

First off if you are downloading the game and paying for it, you know the filesize you know what it costs you, you know what speed it's going, you know how long it will take. So shutup and stop whining when you very well know the price and situation. What the hell do you want BIS to do it and what is venting your situation going to do to change everything. Do you want BIS to reduce a game sizes to only 3MB so you can download ARMA2 in a reasonable time?

I could go on, but what is the point.

I see your view and your situation, but your internet, and your downoad speeds are your problem not the developer's and they only have time to cater towards the 99.9%, it's just not feasable to worry about that guy who is on a boat in the south pacific with intermittent and slow access. Same goes for those who have to pay expensive rates for internet, they can't reduce their file size because of you.

Jeez, what the hell is going on?

I see the point of this thread, but the point is, well pointless, the point can apply to every single game, especially those new shiny shooters that have SP that lasts all of 5 hours and time is supposed to be filled with MP, fact is if you don't have internet access life sucks, seems to be a pretty short, but fully agreed upon discussion ;)
