Operation flashpoint 2?

Is there going to be an Operation Flashpoint 2? If so, will it have a new and revised graphics engine, and more vehicles and weapons? Like a mini-gun on the side of the Blackhawk.

I dont think they have Ferraris in Czechoslavakia lol. But, if OFP 2 combines the best parts of OFP, Ghost Recon, etc etc... Commanche Hokum, Steel Beasts,etc etc, while leaving out the sucky parts of these games, then Id say they would have a winner

I liked RTCW. I finished it two times, and will do it soon as when i get my GF4Ti4600

I also had much fun playing Daikatana from John Romero. It had some great huge levels and nice monsters to deal with using very nice weapons. My favorite is the one from the second episode. It's the Hammer of Hades. I used to run around in a level, getting much attention of monsters who started chasing me. I charged up the hammer, and BOOOOOM, i smashed the hammer on the ground while jumping. If i forgot to jump i would smash myself to pieces. I liked the game very much, and people that say that is is a stupid game probably did't play the entire game and had much fun with the four different episode. (the third is my favorite episode, as it takes place in medieval Norway)

Firstly, Tex, Im sure they do have Ferrari's in the Czech Republic and also I do think and hope that an OFP2 will be released, although as has been said it will be years from now!

I hope that there will be NO OFP2 in a long time. I hope instead they will use the originally OFP for more upgrades and more campaigns. Then the game will last longer, and i don't have to switch everytime i want to play OFP or OFP2. I hope IL is not a standalone game.

Sure, a OFP 2 or something similar will be released.. and now a new type of game is released more similar games will be released as well.

But I do think that it will take at least 3 years before OFP 2 will be released... they will surely start over from scratch... and a game as complex as this type of genre takes long to make.

I highly doubt they are going to start from scratch. This engine is superb. All they need to do is ramp up the gfx as the computer hardware advances and add all the features we want (check other threads)

And i want to see aussies and kiwis as bad guys, as u know OZ and NZ supported Indonesia and whatever they were doing in East Timor in 70s

Yeah, I think there should be an Operation Flashpoint 2, just a little later, maybe a year or two.  I was hoping for more realistic airplane handling, and more multiplayer modes.  Is there a mode in which a team can "Defend a base" against another team, which has to take it over?

There are several variations on that theme - hold the city + a variety of user varations on the theme.

I think they might be focussing on more recent events in East Timor, with relation to the events before and after the vote for independance. I have a feeling it will play a what-if scenario, because I think they mentioned US Marines as well as Australian and Kiwi forces, with Indonesia directly involving itself in the conflict.

Im not sure how they would cover events from the 70s.

i dont think i would wanna get it if i was to shoot my own countries troops =:s and if it is an aussie groups that is makeing it i am sure they will make the Kiwi and aussies the good guys =

as for the topic i think they can pust OFP alot further forward ...

do things like HL did as technology advances make the models suport larger poly counts and that ....

i have a player model based on a soldier in BHD and i used to Ghost recon models to guide me to make it .. looks sweet but all i have to make are the hands ... and the model will end up around the 2300-2500 poly area .... and that is a bit to much for OFP i think right now......

Well time will see if OFP2 will eventuate. Lets hope there is. Lets hope BIS do not ride the wave of success of OPF too long as they might just be out done by another company. The public are very fickle. I hope BIS add a site for OPF2 soon, so they can start taking hints from the fans, before they go down a path they cannot turn back from. My 2 cents will be to add "In Game Join" option so people can come and go in their own time for games like "Capture the Flag" or "Death Match". I know there are people who say "It is not realistic to join a game mid-way"...but neither is respawning which is an option for all game...Let the gamers choose. As for the graphic engine... I guess they will upgrade as the Hardware gets better. For now though I am just hanging out for Resistance and IL. I noticed Resistance say it has refined net code and graphic engine... Will these refinements transfer over to the Original game as well?
