asmorrey1 10 Posted June 30, 2009 hi all, i'm one of the unlucky people who is experiencing fps problems for no apparant reason. I'm not whinning because, well it's aint gna do no good but i'm just wondering what would be a reasonable length of time to expect to wait for some kind of fix? Has there been any official word on a new patch? thanks guys

Bulldogs 10 Posted June 30, 2009 No official word yet. The devs are busy analyzing the data from the people who posted problems and specs in the correct threads. Judging by Arma 1 and the speed the last 3 patches were put out then I'm guessing 1-2 weeks.

I dont know how long you are into gaming, but you know that is might take a few months to iron out problems after release...? If you cant stand bugs, dont buy at first release day. My prediction is that we will have a stable and good (not perfect as no game is perfect) working game in August oder September.
asmorrey1 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Danke Beagel, Yeah i guess i realise that we just have to wait. I shouldn't have bought first day release, but you know how it is when you are really looking forward to something coming out and then it does! haha oh well, i'm sure i can cope. I'll just stick to online for now i guess :)
Bulldogs 10 Posted July 1, 2009 When Arma 1 came out my system couldn't handle it, but that didn't stop me from buying it and watching the slide show.
FraG_AU 10 Posted July 1, 2009 asmorrey - what are your system specs, what are the drivers you are using, what are the ways you have tried to fix this? It took me almost 1.5 weeks to improve my fps, and it seems that many peoples systems behave differently. I know I am still not using my system 100% but its much better then it was. Let me know, I have 1.5 weeks worth of attempts I can share :P I am only playing MP now, and have not had 1 crash in 8 hrs now and perfromane is up from 25-30fps to 35-45 (and 60+ when new map is loaded with little AI). Anyway let us know and we can try to help!

Anyway let us know and we can try to help! My specs are between minimum and recommended (closer to the latter), and I've tried drivers one year old, two weeks old, and one week old. The issues are still there, even if it's a roll of the dice whether they show up. What more can you do? There are just too many problems. No matter how hard we try, the fundamental fact is that the game has serious internal flaws, and they're flaws we simply can't fix by defragging, rolling back drivers and mucking about with the CFG files. I'm not convinced that this isn't the case. Edited July 1, 2009 by maturin
ryan80 10 Posted July 1, 2009 look at how long it took and how many patches later for ArmA 1 to be stable. Its going to be the same for ArmA 2.
asmorrey1 10 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Hi thanks FraG_AU much appreciated. Right my system specs are: Intel core 2 Due E8200 at stock speed of 2.66ghz (driver version 6.1.7100.0) Saphirre 4870HD (driver version 8.612.0.0) 2GB Ram I'm also running windows 7 7100 build (32 Bit). I have all the latest drivers (to my knowledge) as I have only recently installed win7. Also to be honest I haven't really tried any particular fixes. Mainly becuase i'm finding them hard to find and also there seem to have been mixed responses to their effectiveness. I have mainly just been changing the settings to see what happens. The game is playable outside of built up areas but really choppy in city missions. So far I have just accepted that i need to wait for patches but am more than ready to use your experience of fiddling FraG_AU :) thanks mate EDIT: yeah 'use your experience in fiddling' is an aweful sentence but i'll keep it in for the lol's you know what I mean haha Edited July 1, 2009 by asmorrey1 Sentence just sounds wrong
