Dekier 10 Posted June 27, 2009 I was playing the demo and everything seems pretty cool so far except for the way the helicoptors seem to control. Is there some plan to make the tail rotor actually have some control over your flight or are the helicoptors always going to function more like vtol airplanes? It is really annoying to have to come to a complete stop to rotate the helicoptor without banking and feeling like im going to plow into the ground. Thanks
Litos 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Not really, actually I think it's more realistic like that. Think about this - how would you expect a helicopter on full speed to turn using the tail rotor right away. It's very unrealistic. Besides banking isn't that bad. I can for example do crazy turns and not collapse. Just practice a bit! I think you'll be fine. Dekier 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Well even at max speed you would have "some" rotation.. its just very difficult to adjust a gun-run with zero rudder input.. basically if you dont line it up right the first time you have to make another pass. Ill keep toying with the demo for a while I guess before i decide whether to buy it or not. Maybe theyll make it a bit more responsive in the future
deuxMad 0 Posted June 27, 2009 This isn't a flight sim. Period.
De_little_Bubi 1 Posted June 27, 2009 there is "some" rotation. not much but some. use x and c keys.
Litos 10 Posted June 27, 2009 those barely do anything unless you're hovering.
KorJax 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Well think of it this way, I can't land a helicopter in FSX but I can atleast do that in Arma2 :D The game doesn't seem to be too picky when it comes to landing approaches, where if you so much as scratch the paint in FSX it'll instantly say you crashed and you have to start over. nodunit 397 Posted June 27, 2009 Comparing the way aircraft move to helicopters is not the best to go by, remember aircraft rudders actually move side to side to allow this better movement. Helicopter rudder control is limited in real life and is here, just as it should be.
bobby budnick 0 Posted June 27, 2009 In case you have not realized before, the flight modeling in the game is terrible. Better than Arma 1 though. How about the non-existent rudder control on the V-22?
My Fing ID 0 Posted June 27, 2009 Yeah flight model blows on this game. Get black shark if you want to fly helos. The game is based around infantry, so everything else is secondary. Still I hope something is done. I don't expect blackshark lvl of detail but the controls feel so damn sluggish and collective is too simplified with a throttle. I guess its how it needs to be with keyboard and mouse but use a good joystick and you'll be disappointed. Like the exact opposite of what you'd expect lol. kremator 1065 Posted June 27, 2009 The is a whole arms simulator. Whilst the infantry is well developed the air part isn't quite as much BUT IT DOESNT MATTER ! Taken as a whole the game is AWESOME. All the criticisms you see ^^ haven't realised that the community will bring out mods that will change all this. So take what they say with a pinch of salt. In my opinion the flight models are completely acceptable for now.
