walker 0 Posted June 24, 2009 Have you got a server up n running? Hi swe At the moment I am ronin I am afraid, :o :( like most of my clan. The old Zeus server can just about cope with 15 players running ArmA II. So I play on several public servers, but at least I am getting a feeling for what is out there. Usualy I play on Zeus though. They are upgrading to a top of the range server for ArmA II they are just getting it built. Kind Regards walker
swe 10 Posted June 24, 2009 Nice. And where will that server be located?
walker 0 Posted June 24, 2009 (edited) Hi swe Zeus are a european centric clan but they have members from the US and other countries too. There will be an anouncement when the new server is up. Kind Regards walker Edited June 25, 2009 by walker
kdjac 19 Posted June 24, 2009 I am noobing it atm, hit and miss finding a team game. SealZ server other night was excellent almost everyone on the server working as a team, one or 2 towns were captured in minutes due to using available hardware and teamwork. Only problem i seen was joining servers and a squad option wasnt there, now i know your all playing on private servers :D Altho at times i honestly have no clue whats going on in some servers and why i cant throw a grenade the game says i have :o
doford 10 Posted June 25, 2009 I'm confused. Can't you join a squad by pressing *T* then join squard or create squard?
hund 0 Posted June 25, 2009 The usual approach to squads and teams and groups and what have you in arma, is that you get assigned to a specific unit when you pick your slot at the beginning of the game (or when joining in progress). That will be your unit for the remainder of the mission. You don't leave it the only way you become the leader of it is by picking the leader slot or by attrition. Some missions (I think Emolution might be one example, not sure tho) do have squads that can be joined in-game and such, but that is mission-specific and made up by the mission maker. The basic game has you in a static setup throughout the mission.
Mickd 0 Posted June 25, 2009 it takes a few guys to take the bull by the horns. If a guys says 'guys on me, we are heading east' most of the time they will assume you know what your doing and follow. We had a some success with public players on the Charlie Foxtrot server last night. A couple of guys stuck with me when i gave them orders out of the choppers. I would also recommend if the people say join this ts you do so as they will be there and can talk to you. I always tell people ArmA/ArmAII needs a bit of effort to get the best experience from. I can turn up on any BF2 server and have a good time. However, thats not true of ArmA/ArmAII. If i make a bit of effort getting on the TS, sticking with a few guys or taking the bulls by the horn, then the experience is beyond anything else in gaming. jonneymendoza 10 Posted June 25, 2009 From what ive played so far arma2 online seems, lacking to what is promised by the community. From what ive played its the whole "all for himself" attitude like every other fps, ive seen no teamwork and little to no communication, ill just stick to online till the community grows. i agree 100% on this, The problem with most servers i have seen is that no1 seems to know what the objective is and what to do. no one is communicating and working as a team and no one knows where there squad members are or who the commander is. The commander is suppose to give orders to us yet most of the time im awaiting orders all the time and just stuck on the air field base doing nothing. I also feel that we need some tanks and armoured vehicles around the hot spots as going there by foot is a no no. Just like in a real war(as far as i can see) you dont just walk towards a hot spot and start blasting your way through, you normally have air support that levels the are if there are no civilians and also have armed vehicles at present creating open paths for people on foot to go in and attack. Overall this game needs teamwork and communication for it to be fun online. i have not tried SP mode as im hearing awful things about the friendly ai being rubbish so i will stick with MP mode as i dont have to deal with retarded squad members in SP mode.
