Rotary cannon for MV-22 Osprey

I would like to suggest putting an underbelly 7.62mm rotary cannon on the MV-22 Osprey in arma2 to give it a more active role.

Seeing as how this article just came out, it has not yet actually been given the "rubber stamp" by the Commandant, and Arma2 is slated to be released in a matter of months (or potentially less), I seriously doubt BIS would even entertain this suggestion, let alone.

However, this would be awesome for a modder to do! :bounce3:

Even a ramp gun would be nice, I agree. If not in by default, hopefully a modder tackles it soon after release.

Also, not to nickpick, but that's an underbelly machinegun, not a cannon. :)

Oh, and regarding that particular variant - I had the good fortune of seeing one of those at Modern Day Marine last year, I think it may even be the one in the video. Very cool system, no doubt about that.

Theres a V-22 Osprey addon for Arma and it has a M240 Ramp gun, its preety good.

Hi, the problem with the ramp mounted weapons is that the AI don't watches any fire sector;

at least not the right one... it's always scanning front and passes completly from any target

on his natural fire sector, the 45º right behind the Osprey. So at least in the ArmA, it's useless

unless that you've a player handling it; i'll not be very worried about have an armed MV22

or not, the difference between an armed one handled by an AI and other unarmed... is

@sixteenways: I don't think we need 'more active role'. We need some unarmed transport aerial vehicle as well. Let attack helis or armed utility choppers do what you ask for. Otherwise the mission designer will have a problem obtaining the balance he wants in his mission.

Sadly nowadays it's only about the firepower and destruction. Where is the smoke and illumination support for ground troops?
