eeerr... the campaign is a 4 man team. That's why you only see 4 players under control...

Obviously You could have bigger squads in single missions/multiplayer/editor etc.

In one of the other gamestar ones the player is mentioned as #19 so I am betting that its at least in the 100-200 range like in arma. Granted I never ever used that many because 12 was hard enough to command.

Im used to command Platoon size...

4x8 plus additional support units like transportation and

medteams.

So i dont see the differens between 4Squads or 4Platoons..

I just hope CoC will have their CEX in order in time for A2..

I find it time consuming enough to micromanage 10 ai. Hitting F12 every once and a while and trying to find that 1 unit is hard enough :p

What I reallllllllllly want is if say: You have 20 units. 10 Units (5 through 15) die. Leaving you with units: 1 through 5, and 15 through 20. I want the 15 through 20 units to automatically be brought down to fill the 5-10 spot.

Also, while we are on this. I would also love it if you had 10 tanks under your control - that all the tank's units could be "grouped" together so you could command 10 tanks in 1 command bar (f2-f11). Rather than looking through the dictionary of units under your command to try and find the driver or gunner to each tank. What if the gunner (number 3) is inside of the tank of unit 40? THAT gets annoying fast. Especially if you are not within visual distance of those unit(s).

10 tanks is 3 platoons with CommandTank..

Group them in teams. Blue Red and Green.

Theres an idea...IF i group my team of tanks

they should be Transferd to F buttons..Like

Blue team is F2, Red F3, Green F4..

Like ive stated in another thread, i expect to see alot of new

features in 6 menu.

Like ISSUE ranks..:

F2 - 6: Promote to: 1 Cpl, 2 Searg, 3 Lt, 4 Cpt, 5 Maj, 6 Col

F2 - 6: Degrade to: 1 Maj, 2 Cpt, 3 Lt, 4 Searg, 5 Cpl, 6 Priv

Then i can group my "Group/Teams" with a Chain of command..

Now were talkin war simulator...

I've had must miss the browser tab I meant to post in.

Still, instead of juggling function keys, maybe a press&hold for selecting certain type of units. ie. if there's a two tanks, three apc's and let's say a HMMV under our command, you could press and hold f3 (APC1 key), to select all of them no matter in which order are they. Or when selecting infantry which is assigned to Team Yellow, to select whole team.

Or press&hold "command" button, to show up a grid table with all the units under command, and allow to select them by by mouse pointer.

I think I eluded to this feature in another post of yours (or maybe I meant to and didn't)' date=' but I think you will not have to wait for CoC, because I think Arma2 will already have something like it.

Let's look at this pic again:

That is not merely a group above seven, that is groups of groups.

Group 1 is a headquarters unit, I have no idea how big it is. I would assume the player is in it, but the radio messages confuse me slightly (I think the player is Ray Corto, if that is the case, I assume the player is in the HQ group)

Group 2, 3, and 4 are each a squad of Infantry. A standard Marine rifle Squad is 13 men (one Squad Leader and three Fireteams of 4 men each). So each group has 13 men in it that you are controlling.

Group 5 is a Fireteam of motorized infantry, which I'm guessing is an armed HMMWV. It could be just two guys or a full fireteam of four.

Group 6 is a squad of Armor. I don't know if they are tanks, LAV's or what, but a platoon of tanks is four vehicles, so a squad could easily mean there is just one vehicle in that group.

Group 7 is a squad of Aircraft, helicopters I think. One, maybe two.

All in all you've got about a platoon of infantry you are commanding plus armor and air support. Each one of those elements seem to be commanded by you in a similar manner as to how you would command your individual units in your squad. Plus there are pictures out there that seem to indicate you being able to give commands directly on your map as well.

This should basically cover your needs. It puts you a "step up" in the level you can command units (from the basic Team or Squad Leader, to a Platoon or Company Commander) while maintaining the same amount of ease from the former. Instead of having to have 100 different individual units you are manually grouping, and form up on you in one big absurd formation, you can have 10 different groups of 10 units. Each group follows its own leader, and all you have to do is tell the leader what you want. He and his little AI brain take it away from there. That basically sounds like CoC to me, and there is in game video of this feature being used I believe.

Maybe you do know about this feature and I missed it somewhere?

The way you state it, ILL LOVE It...

I have used CoC at some levels but my PC didnt handle it to well.

I got kind of bored with platoons and started juggling with Batalions

and stuff...Got carried away..

Anyway, if what yo say is true, i will be more than happy...

I think you will be happy for sure my friend!

Check out this video starting at 4:55:

This gives you a decent idea of how it will work from a first person view, and seems to confirm to me that those NATO symbols on the bottom command bar in the second picture Raphier linked indeed corresponds to different groups of units that you control like an individual team member.

For me this High Command system might actually get me to play or design for myself some missions in Single Player. Being able to be a Platoon Commander or Company Commander is about the only thing that sounds appealing to me in SP.
