Guest Posted March 5, 2002 i have more or less the same pc (duron 800 ) and with me everything goes fine, a month ago i had 128 meg ram (now 265 but that made not much difference) so i guess your problem is something else (directx is often a cause )
DodgeME 0 Posted March 5, 2002 I would suggest getting the latest drivers for your hardware. GPU, sound card and also motherboard drivers. Also disable programs running in the background like antivirus programs etc
ALDEGA 0 Posted March 5, 2002 Is your windows swapfile size limited (user set)? Or is it being 'managed by windows'? Do any errors appear when the game crashes? Perhaps you could paste the latest entries from flashpoint.rpt here.
OIK 0 Posted March 5, 2002 Thanks for the help i appriciate it. This problem can this have something to do that i play with the original version without upgrading the game? i know there are many patches but i dont know. My friend said that i should download the the patches so the game will not freeze and crash. Smaller missions i can play but when i play missions like commander i reach the town and then it crashes. I still have the picture but freezed.

OIK 0 Posted March 6, 2002 OK i havent done anything yet but im not so experienced with computers so im afraid of doing something wrong. Two question: 1 SHould i go in to www.nvidia.com and download the latest update of my graphic card? 2 is it enough to downlaod from VIA the latest 4in1 patch? And should i disable my AGP4 write? THanks guys and sorry again for my hard words.

However I don't think those are what are causing this actual problem you are having in game, as was suggested above it could be caused by your swapfile. How much free hard drive space do you have? Placebo 29 Posted March 6, 2002 You're Swedish right? I have a lot of Swedish friends so if it would help I can get things I say translated into Swedish for you to make things clearer The more I think about it the more I'm confident the problem is your swapfile, as you say in your first post it's the bigger missions that crash for you..... 128mb of ram is pretty much the absolute minimum to play the game, everything you run like windows and Operation Flashpoint take up some of that ram, it doesn't leave you with much ram so windows uses hard drive space to make up for the lack of ram, big missions will take up more space so if windows suddenly finds that there is no hard drive space left it could crash operation flashpoint. OIK 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I have 13 gb so i dont think the problem is the space in my hard disk. But thank you for the help. This game if no problems appear is the best of the best and now with new missions coming and new vehicles and weapons is super. Im sad though that i cannot play . OIK 0 Posted March 6, 2002 Placebo thank you once again. Now that you are name it i think also that it can be mine 128 ram. I can play missions that are smaller without any trouble so i also start to think that this is the case. I would try to solve the problem even if i have to fight to the last man . Placebo 29 Posted March 6, 2002 You have plenty of hard drive space which is good, you need to make sure that windows is being allowed to manage the swap file itself, that way it can use as much hard drive space as it needs to. You don't say what version of windows you are using? If possible it would really benefit you to get more ram, doubling it to 256mb would really help your system deal with the game
OIK 0 Posted March 6, 2002 I have windows98 . How do you swap files? please give soime info how to do it. Thank you i hope i never bother you again.
Placebo 29 Posted March 7, 2002 Ok I stole this off a website as I use XP myself.... "Go to the desktop and right click My Computer and select properties. Then in the Performance tab. Look at the bottom of the Window and look for Virtual Memory. " Make sure it's set like in the picture with windows being allowed to manage the swap file itself
OIK 0 Posted March 7, 2002 I checked it out and i have exactly the same in my computer. Well its ok my friend i may choose to leave this game for ever even if it breaks my heart .
Placebo 29 Posted March 8, 2002 Nooooooo don't give up yet I'll try to think of something, don't suppose you can grab another 128mb of ram from somewhere?
Placebo 29 Posted March 8, 2002 A bit drastic this but any chance you could do a complete format of your hard drive, reinstall windows nice and fresh?
OIK 0 Posted March 9, 2002 You know Placebo tomorow i will give it a last chance a friend of mine who is expert with computers will come and trie to solve this problem. However a format of my hard drive is out of the question because i did it last week . Ohh yes i have version 1.00 is that the oldest? can this be a problem?
Placebo 29 Posted March 9, 2002 Hmm well 1.00 should still work, but it would be worth trying upgrading it to 1.
