Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted December 20, 2008 I must admit I didn't like ArmA that much when I compare it to OFP which I still play and have fun. Although not a totally bad game, it felt a bit simplified. Now OFP gets a little outdated and I don't want to play ArmA. So soon I get a new choice. But will it be OFP2 or ArmA2. I have totally no clue what to expect of both games. Both look great when I see the trailers and screens, but which will come closest to OFP. Since Bohemia is the creator of the original OFP, I think I want to spend my money on ArmA 2. I don't know what the system specs are, but I guess that doesn't matter and for either game I have to upgrade. Can someone show me the systems specs, since I couldn't find any link or information on it. Maybe I had to much wine, but I just couldn't find it anywhere. Also, can you tell me why you chose ArmA2 above OFP2. Or vise versa or whatever if you choose to play both. Thanks in advance for answers

Maddmatt 1 Posted December 20, 2008 Also, can you tell me why you chose ArmA2 above OFP2. Or vise versa or whatever if you choose to play both. You can't make that choice when neither is even available. I'll buy whatever I think is good. If both are good, I buy both. Quote[/b] ]Although not a totally bad game, it felt a bit simplified. I can understand you not liking ArmA as much as OFP, but how is ArmA simplified? Â
Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Thanks for the link Simplified might be a bad word choice of me, but English is not my native language. I can give some examples from what I meant -When you stood in front of a vehicle in OFP, I could press my middle mouse button and I got a little menu in the lower right corner with several options. In ArmA I only get one huge icon that sais what I can do. -The single player campaign totally didn't catch me. It felt like a bunch of levels thrown together and then called a campaign. But as I said it is totally not a bad game. Anyway, I am sober now and read alot of information. I really look forward to the game right now and I guess it is to soon to make a choice between ArmA2 and OFP2. Maybe I will just give them both a try and stay with the one I like best then. /salute
Deadfast 43 Posted December 20, 2008 In ArmA I only get one huge icon that sais what I can do. This is weird... Because the same exact list of actions exists in ArmA as well, only accompanied by the icons you described. You don't have to press the middle mouse though - just walk up to the car and the action menu should pop up. Then use mouse wheel to select one and enter to perform. Gorgi Knootewoot 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Hmm odd, never seen it. Only a green icon telling me what i can do, and I can perform it using the middle mouse button. Im gonna try it out and see if I get a menu. If there is, I am gonna feel so stupid  Edit: Ok, I feel stupid
Maddmatt 1 Posted December 20, 2008 -The single player campaign totally didn't catch me. It felt like a bunch of levels thrown together and then called a campaign. Yea the campaign was a bit... rushed Something went wrong with the development of the missions in ArmA. But there are plenty of good user made missions for multiplayer. ArmA doesn't have the same singleplayer appeal as OFP mainly due to the missions and campaigns. But for multiplayer it's a different story There are some good singleplayer missions out now though, if you look around.

Placebo 29 Posted February 2, 2009 Now as 7 years ago "search before posting" is still the doctrine to live and die (have your threads closed) by, searching for "system specs" finds this thread amongst others. As for deciding which game to buy, I don't think it's necessary for you to require the help of other people to make up your mind, there's plenty of ingame footage and ingame screenshots to compare against CG rendered footage. And yes welcome back
