extra radar for aircrafts

Recommended Posts

Hi all..

so im sitting here with the flue.

i got bored by beeing in beed so. i fired up my pc and put together a small addon/"scripts". which is still in wip!

i dont know if anyone else has made something like this before.

the addon is a radarsystem. which shows aircraft & missiles in a 4 sector plot.

front|behind|left and right.

i never liked the ingame radar. i feel its messy so i made this.

the blue dots are airuints..

the red dots are incoming missiles.

i was thinking of making friendly airunits green. "not desided yet"

but my question is. how do i get rid of the ingame radar for airunits?

youtube compressed the file so much one cant see the dots on the radar :\

good stuff!

Try Mando scripts for air units and there wass script with HUD for helicopters. Both use same method AFAIR

edit: ups sorry didnt properly understand your question

As for disabling air units radar you can put a black box over it (Mandoble did it) or change their config and disable radar there. You can override default configs for standard choppers but it wont work for addons unfortunatelly

nice  smile_o.gif

Is this a common way to display it?

How about

     -----

----|  T |----

| L  |---|  R |

----|  B |----

     -----

hi Q..

i was thinking of doing one of 2 things to show the hight.

1. make icons on display smaller/bigger

2. make a new display as you illustrated

but i think adding a new dialog might be confusing. i'll try this out..

thanks for the tip smile_o.gif

i tried using a extra dialog as Q illustrated.

but it was so confusing i got rid of quit fast.

the idea was good. but not verry practical.

i do instead make the dots "icon" bigger/smaller depending on the hight..

blue == enemy airunit.

orange == enemy ground unit

red == incomming missile

green == friendly unit.

a few bugs here & there to sort out before i'll put it up for the public smile_o.gif

made a new short video showing it better how it works..

"" quality stil bad :\ ""

heh avoide incomming missiles is "way" easyer now. yay.gif

hmm "without weapon lock"!

i could add that..

that has i not thought of at all  whistle.gif  thanks for that tip Q

As it works now. it only tracks the missiles that is locked on to you,,

but it wount be hard to add, so it tracking missiles which is not locked on aswell. it will actualy simplify some code when i think of it smile_o.gif

donwside by that is that. it will pick up all missiles not meant for you aswell in the defined range "1500" i set it to.

good thing about it.. you might spot an AA soldier location. smile_o.gif
