TWCRASH 0 Posted January 4, 2009 Quote[/b] ]Well, billions of people eat at McDonalds, but that doesn't necessarily mean that their food is the best in the world. What I am meaning to say is, mass appeal isn't always a stamp of quality. I can agree with that. The games I mentioned I wouldn't catagorize them as the fast food of the industry to use your words. These are games that have stood the test of time and proved they are decent games.

boomboomer 0 Posted January 4, 2009 I wouldn't say OFP was any better than ArmA for bugs, I can remember spending hours in gamespy trying to start a server, only to find the game crashing everyone out within minutes of starting - very frustrating. The highspec hardware at the time couldn't play OFP at anything over low/medium settings (sound familiar?) although things were considerably simpler back then with only a few flavours of graphics cards to test on. It was until about a year after release that the game became really playable. ArmA is about there now, things should become easier from here - until the next game appears and we start all over again. TWCRASH 0 Posted January 4, 2009 Well in all fairness it is like comparing apples to oranges. They really are 2 separate games. Both having their sophmore problems. In all fairness to ArmA tho the new patch cleared up all of my issues of bad framerates and gameplay. And I actually enjoy it now. So my opinion of ArmA has grown good over the last couple weeks. Now if I could just find a server that i didnt need to waste 5 hours to complete a single mission....
mak90_2000 0 Posted January 4, 2009 in a good way it was nice to read all these posts. they seem to have brought back alot of old OFP memories. i actualy found myself grinning from ear to ear. I just got arma, have it patched up to i think 1.8 or something. its taking some time to get used to but i dont think it has the feel of ofp. i am still willing to give it a try, I started playing ofp back in the late 90s on a small COOP server called VetServer. Reading all your posts here made me think of all the good times playing coop and using team speak. what a blast. so thanks to all who posted here, you helped cheer and old man up
mr.g-c 6 Posted January 4, 2009 Quote[/b] ]....back in the late 90s.... Game came out in 2001 in germany, czech, etc. first. Multiplayer did suck terribly at the beginning until patches, dedi & stuff was released later. To the question (based on pure Multiplayer standpoint, as i would give OFP 10/10 points and Arma 2/10 points for Singleplayer - so better not talk about ): OFP has still the better feeling, especially powered by mods like FDF, FFUR, BW-Mod and of course my all time favourite "WGL" Wargame-League, who's spiritual successor "ACE" is kicking in Arma1 currently, like no other mod before. I think its mainly the poor "Sahrani" Island, as well as certain limitations & bugs+issues. Powered with ACE-Mod on Islands like Afghani or Afghani-Village, it's something different. However still OFP "feels" better.

BLSmith2112 0 Posted January 7, 2009 However still OFP "feels" better. I can't figure it out ether... OFP just "felt" good.
brit~XR 0 Posted January 8, 2009 Ofp vs Arma. Id have to say ofp. I still injoy playing that game like crcti and just has a better fill to it then arma. Arma just has a different fill to it that i dont really enjoy. When i first played ofp on 1.95 servers i though it was great. I just cant say the same for arma. I have a server on arma i hardly play on. That says it all
