making planes take off

Hi, I've searched, but I can't find a way to make planes take off.

Basically, there is a airfield party, until OPFor bombers come and start bombing the place up.

However, I cannot make the pilots take off and start flying after they get in the plane.

Help would be appreciated.

So you want them to scramble to their planes, Battle Of Britain style? Think setting them to careless would be the only way to get them to take off once then shit has hit the fan, cause their AI will make then wary if they are on anything else, and they prob wont take off.

if the planes are on the main tax way of the airport at paraiso, then the AI should automatically taxi to the end of the runway, take off, and then they'll follow any given waypoints.

Im trying to get a DC3 to take off from pita airbase on the united sahrani map however try as I might can't get either a dc3 or SU plane to take off or land from/at any airport other than paraiso.

Have used this/unitname landat 2, 2 setairport side east and have placed the plane on the runway to no avail. Am i doing something wrong? thanks.

i never tried to get ai to take of in planes before. "only helis" but it works fine

just take a Ai pilot. and a empty plane.

put a getin waypoint on the plane. then a move waypoint to the location you want.. you'll see the pilot taxis around a bit, but he will take off.

i did put the pilot and plane at the east side of the airport in pita.

maybe you have something blocking the Ai's path,

I've been trying on a completely empty runway nothing but me standing on the sidelines and have tried standing at various distance... still nada... tried empty plane and pilot moveindriver.. the plane runds straight into the hangar gets stuck and stay there...

I think you've found a bug (non-feature?) on United Sahrani. Notice that the only airport with an outline of the runway on the map is the main one? United Sahrani's config doesn't have any definitions for secondary airports!

Ok i found this intresting so i mess around abit.

landat 2 works just fine..

the problem here is that.. if you have used a waypoint on the unit. it looks like you have to remove them. or any other commands that might be running. before issuing landat command.

i just took a plane ,, placed it about 5 Km west of pita.

on its init i put just: this landat 2

the plane landed just fine.

United Sahrani seems to be based off an early version of Sahrani.

Multiple working airports were added in a patch, before that only one airport on a map in ArmA would be functional for AI. On Sahrani that was the one near Paraiso.

As the extra taxiway and runway definitions are only in the islands config file, would it be patchable with a simple user patch ?

I would say yes, but I think you know more about configs than most, Gnat. The unknown part to me is the implications of a class that is "readOnlyVerified".
