Vehicle sound too low in 1st person with 1.14

Recommended Posts

The addon makes sounds of the own vehicle audible again in

1st person view inside in vehicles. Like tank or helo engine.

Download:

PROPER_Gameplay_Vehicle_InsideSoundCoef.pbo

Please test if the volume is alright now.

Maybe it needs to be reduced or bump up for some vehicles.

Feedback needed!

Signatures for MP will follow once people like the sound balance.

Compatibility:

This addon may not work partially or completely with sound

mods, if they defined the 'insideSoundCoef' themselves.

Please contact their authors to remove that definition from

their sound mods to a separate pbo or altogether (as most

are outdated after BI's 1.14 change in the sound system).

Quick overview about sound mods defining the value for their sounds:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">FDF: yes

ffamm15r: only harrier

HiFi: m1a1 + harrier

ModWarSound: yes

CSM: no

BPA: yes

AACF: m1a1 + harrier

You might want to ask them nicely to split away these values

to a separate PBO as well to make their addon more modular

and possible to combine with other addons:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">occludeSoundsWhenIn

Nice! Just what I needed. Its shame that the community has to fix the bugs that BIS makes. I hope they correct this thing in next update. smile_o.gif

Thanks for this Q! Seems to make some things better.

I have a problem still though, and have had it a long time even with complete uninstall/reinstall etc. I use FDF and boats to me sounds the same third person/first person. Same very low volume. And when switching between first/third i hear a loud "buzz" wich is the actual engine sound, but i doesnt "stick" so to speak. It just goes BRRR for a split second and back to the same level as inside. Very weird.

EDIT: It was fine in the beginning - back in the days with FDF. Just since... i dont know, some patches i guess that this weirdo thingy happened. Using Audigy 2 BTW.

Wondered if anyone else have this problem with boats, and maybe there is something you can see Q in the config?

Thanks for the effort! Appreciated.

/Alex

You are welcome. smile_o.gif

Alex can you be a bit more specific - any boats?

Best idea would be to record the situation on video with fraps

or gameCam. wink_o.gif

The FDF sound MOD sets various config values related to sound.

So there is a chance that those values are the source of the

problem - maybe in combination with 'wrong' volume of the sound

source (file).

Hi,

I'm just putting the finishing touches to HiFi 1.5 & HiFi Warfare, an of course I'll get into the config's and remove any 'insideSoundCoef' entries relating to vehicals before release.

Thanks for pointing this issue out!

Best Regards

@Q

Yep i'll make a recording later tonight. Jus think its funny as FDF never was a problem before in boats. But after introduction of lowering of volumes inside vehicles, it came. But not at first. Just makes me confused. The RHIB is the most obvious. Cant hear the engine at all. Only when switching first/third view i hear the correct volume of the engine sound, but only for a micro second.

Ill post a mp3 or a small vid later. Thanks for wanna check it Q.
