Better Briefings

Recommended Posts

We have very nice possiblity to define a briefing objectives for each side. So wie have "west","east","guer" and "civ".

But there are only objectives. I think it were more needfull to include the possiblity to define completely briefing (with all textes - not only objectives) for:

- each side

- each group = more groups per side (like "west_1", "west_2" etc.)

So we can build a missions with more groups who have different objectives in the battle and other situation reports - it is more realistic. Briefings for aircraft crews, special forces, tank crews or infantry are in R.L. different. Only one briefing for all with not useable informations can only confuse the players.

I have one big suggestion imo for briefings i would really like to have audio briefings, a soundfile added so i can do voice over briefings maybe with or without some background sounds to immerse the player/s more.

I think it would really make the briefing more like a intro for the mission and that would be nice. smile_o.gif

I think briefings per side already exist? But althought I tend to agree, is it really that much of a problem? Good missions today typically have rather limited amount of work each group/team is supposed to do. If each objective started with i.e. Alpha, Bravo, Sniper etc, it wouldn't really confuse much.

But sure, it would be "nice" to have i.e. an expandeable list of objectives, just click on the pluss sign to expand the orders for the i.e. Sniper team. Very much needed? I'd let them concentrate on other more important things first than this.

The possibility to play audio clips in briefings are possible. (Has been since OFP)

The several briefings per side is a good idea as well, but as it is you can just put a general briefing and have links going off to another bunch of pages for seperate groups.

Yes, briefing per side is allready exists. My intention is to create possiblity to get more briefings per side. Its most usually in MP. If you have on - for example - BLUFOR side 2 or more groups from not the same kind, then its better to give any group their own briefing.

Example:

Infantry - becomes all relevant informations about enemies and their own situation, about execution, weapons and gear, callsigns and support.

But when you have as second group, a helicopter crew? Their needs other "own situation", other "execution" and some other informations - if you are in mp game and must read all informations for all groups - similar whether needfull for you or only for the other group - that is not very usefully.

Possibly filenames:

"briefing.west1.german.html"

"briefing.west2.german.html"

"briefing.east1.english.html"

"briefing.east2.english.html"

etc.

So i offer to change briefings from "west/guer/east" to "west1-10/guer1-10/east1-10" etc. So can the infantry troop #1 read the briefing "west1" and tankcrews from the M1 Tank Platoon #2 briefing "west2", while the pilot of A-10 Plane (#3) reads the briefing "west3". All informations which are relevant each time for other group that own, are not readable for you.

Sorry, maybe i can´t explain my intention good enough here, that i am not english native.

What you try to achieve is already possible; I hope you know how to define 'sections' (or anchors) in a briefing, and how you create links to these sections.

For every group you create an objective that links to their specific part of the briefing. Just hide those objectives for groups/players who shouldn't read them.

Yes, i know. It is possible to create parts of briefings but only per side and only objectives part. Its not the same as create completely separate briefing.

Look here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/docs/briefing.html

I don´t know other possiblity which can help me to create a separate briefing (and objectives) for each group of one side. Maybe its exists - i don´t known it.
