bravo 6 0 Posted April 17, 2008 Translation: Al Amiriya or Al-A'amiriya; WikiMapia More info: <ul>"Amiriyah Fallujah: is a city in the Al Anbar province, about 30 km south of Fallujah. It was named Amiriyah Fallujah after the occupation of Iraq because of huge number of Displaced from the city of Fallujah, with a total population of 110 thousand people." Source During the American war on Iraq the city witnessed violent clashes Such as city of Fallujah and Ramadi as well as explosions and car bombs with chlorine, but in the end in 2007 the anbar police took over on the city. 1600x1200 1600x1200 1024x768 1024x768 1024x768 Al Amiriya map is still a WIP.. theres still lot of work to be done, lot of buildings to be placed, with patience and inspiration it will be ready eventually. The map is surrounded by desert and you can hardly notice where it ends.. in real life theres a huge river that cross the country and i can not simulate it in this game (yet). So the map have a big river, more like a very big lagoon with one bridge like in real life. Last showing pic shows you the size of the hole map taken from a chopper, so you can have an idea of the map. ATM the map has 13 different .rvmat (7 diff sand colors; 2 diff grass; 2 diff rocks; 2 diff durtground) These textures may suffer some changes in the future as they do every day, in order to fit better and give a more natural effect. PS- If anyone has nice Iraqi object models (buildings) that want to share an see in this map, please mp me. Feedback is welcome. edit: added some info. edit2: updated some pics
Curious 0 Posted April 17, 2008 Looks sweet. And the bad spelling Arabic doesn't say Al Amiryia. It says something like 'no hope no justice' Should say : http://wikimapia.org/1026792/ar/ (Cant type Arabic on this site. Click on the link its opposite the English. Ghost08 0 Posted April 17, 2008 Looking great can't wait to make some missions on this island. Is this island going to require QG or not? Signed, Ghost
bravo 6 0 Posted April 17, 2008 Looks like i need to learn Arabic.. Changed the title and hope its right now Though i need to change the name in the pics aswell. To answer the question, atm it does not require QG, for future i don't know if will use QG (didn't decide yet). Also, i can't wait to start making missions on this map, if it worth Edit: thanks Rebl Man: i saw your new sig.. how is your map going? I feel it will have same environment.. they are "relative" near locations.

"I don't wanna to hijack the theard" Well its good, Yes, Atm working on the roads and sidewalks, after finish going to work in iraqi buildings , Around 200-300 model. PTV-Jobo 820 Posted April 18, 2008 Wow, very stunning work. I'm glad more map makers are working on similar "themes" in the type of map work they are doing. I've grown bored of Sahrani fast, and primarily use Sakakah. I'm glad to see more maps to mix it up from mission to mission. Excellent work! Keep it up, bro. bravo 6 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I would like to ask the more experienced ones how will the game react with all the sidewalks and without them.. Will the map lag alot less if not use the sidewalks? I ask this because i was thinking to add sidewalks in most part of the city's map but there are 3 more big zones to place them, and i fear it will cause enormous lag due to them Also would like to know your opinions about how im organizing the blocks... Note: the organized ones are the ones with the sidewalls..(i think you can notice the difference) the rest is just for an quick idea of the area. 1600x1200 1600x1200 also i need to rework the sand roads somehow.. they are too small hihi.. mechastalin 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I think any area using sand roads would most likely not have sidewalks built.
Daniel 0 Posted April 18, 2008 Quote[/b] ]o answer the question, atm it does not require QG, for future i don't know if will use QG (didn't decide yet). It'd much be much appreciated by a few units if you didn't! It's hard enough trying to find decent islands that don't need QG, as getting everyone in a group to buy QG just for an island is a bit of a pain. Or at least a QG free version. Looking good! bravo 6 0 Posted April 18, 2008 I think any area using sand roads would most likely not have sidewalks built. so your saying that the map shouldn't have any sidewalks then.. check this link: Amiriya "on Live" (thats the exact location i showed) Suggestions about what to do would be appreciated. ps- im building this map not just for me.. but also for the community, so please help Edit: [CAS] Daniel, i also thought about that.. and have it in consideration.. Time will tell.

Rebel Man 431 Posted April 18, 2008 Well, I don't think sidewalk going to make alot lag in your island, And agree with Mr.MechaStalin, only i can see some sidewalks and corners in the highway. [errm]And the sidewalks blocks can be organized by the buldozer[/errm]
-HUNTER- 1 Posted April 18, 2008 OOOWW YES!!! This is looking VERY cool! More desert maps, with middle eastern theme is good! edit Concrete blast walls?
bravo 6 0 Posted April 18, 2008 [errm?]And the sidewalks blocks can be organized by the buldozer[/errm?] is that a question? Does it have a deeper meaning or ..? If its a simple question, the answer is yes, yes they can.. at least is how i've been doing.. don't see other way of doing it (but im just a noob) edit1: Concrete blast walls? what you mean? Can you elaborate more so i can try to answer? edit2: I took another pic without sidewalks to see the visual diff... looks like it does not look too bad without sidewalks after all. Will be less lag and will take less time to build ^^ 1600x1200 1600x1200 When placing the buildings im trying to give as more and as possible access to the roof tops. -HUNTER- 1 Posted April 18, 2008 Link In this screenshot you will see a bit of editor work. But the walls are the standard BIS walls. Some addonmakers are working on these types of walls.

Ok, you mean these? 9th post Not sure if ill add them in the vanilla map.. i might let the mission maker to decide it. But its a good idea edit: Im also waiting for these addon to be released. Curious 0 Posted April 18, 2008 ^^ You should it bro, gives it the real Iraq feeling to it. And some of us dont have time to make mission/edit on the editor.
bravo 6 0 Posted April 19, 2008 Well atm i can't do anything about it, because i don't have those models in my possession, ie, they were not released.. I'm still waiting for them and others.. and the map is being built fast... ...when its complete will unlikely be changed (replaced) thats why i'm asking for models asap. What is taking me a lot of time is the retouches i need to do in the Mask_lco.png (I want fair details). Can anyone explain me what the following lines in the config.cpp mean? config.cpp <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> longitude = -40; // positive is east latitude = -40; // positive is south I ask this because i would like to simulate the time as real as possible in Iraq, and don't know if this values have something to do with Earth location/sun inclination (map in this case)
Nicholas Bell 0 Posted April 19, 2008 Al Amiriya, Al Anbar, Iraq is at E43, 52', N33, 10' N. So you use the longitude = 43; latitude = -33;
bravo 6 0 Posted April 19, 2008 Al Amiriya, Al Anbar, Iraq is at E43, 52', N33, 10' N.So you use the longitude = 43; latitude = -33; Weee thanks, i should have thought of that I'm going to update it after this post What do you guys think of these accessible roof tops? Note they are not perfect but might do the job. 1600x1200 1600x1200 from the bottom they look "a little strange" and when we cross them we get stuck.. but its usable with some "tricks"
Daniel 0 Posted April 19, 2008 Well yeah, if they were textured all the way round and you didn't get stuck that'd be awesome! Â Â
-HUNTER- 1 Posted April 19, 2008 Its nice that it looks like Iraq but this time with some more open spaces. So if you'd have a base somewhere and be sitting in a bunker with a m240, you could have a really good mission right there. Spotting insurgents amongst civvies, then an VBIED attack and a firefight. Eventually call in some laserguided bombs, and blow the crap out of something. yeah!
bravo 6 0 Posted April 19, 2008 something like this? Note i will not create more details then these for a vanilla map. Mission makers may create their own scenarios as they wish. I'm sure i will use sandbags on my missions but i will not add them to the map. I'm Just trying to give more options to the mission makers. 1600x1200 Note: the Ai does not fall from the platforms, nor do humans edit: i hate when people use unaccessible roofs with Ais.
