spetznaz14 0 Posted March 21, 2008 I had this same problem but 1.11 patch finally seems to have fixed it, interesting as I almost have exactly same spec as you except I dont have x-fi card. I am a bit nervous about changing any of the settings now.
frederf 0 Posted March 22, 2008 I'm having a similar issue. ArmA will freeze up the whole PC (including other programs). If I can get Taskmanager up then it let's me have some CPU cycles or something to fix it. Even when shutting down ArmA it freezes up the PC again similarly for a while. Does it have something to do with the 1.11 patch and how it changed virtual addressing?
Balschoiw 0 Posted March 23, 2008 I experienced two total freezes with 1.11 today. The screen froze and I had a high tone coming from the speakers. I disabled EAX and had no more freezes of that kind. I also use X-fi card. I do not run the latest beta drivers for the card as they didn´t work that good and have replaced OpenAL .dll´s with old ones as the new ones make Arma start only after 2-3 minutes of waiting. Never had such freezes before, especially with that high tone coming from speakers.
frederf 0 Posted March 24, 2008 I uninstalled a bunch of stuff and did new drivers and whatnot. One thing I did do was uninstall that OpenAL driver that the biki told me to (link was in the error message when starting ArmA.exe). Problems gone so far. SWAT_CDN 0 Posted March 24, 2008 I got this "freezing issue" with 1.11 while playing around in the editor (cannot connect to any server to try in MP) Normally I hard Boot the computer but last night I let it run it's course, (instead of hard boot), the computer went through a whole bunch of wierd grapic screens, sounds did really wierd noises and after about 20 Min it finally went back to normal.? While this freezing is going on the LCD on my G15 keyboard shows Arma maxing out on only one CPU at a time and continuously bounces between CPU's . Ram usage stayed the same no change at about 40% usage. AMD Atholon 64x2 Dual Core 6000+ 2 Gig Ram EN 8800 GTS 640 Meg (169.44 Drivers) Windows XP Pro PS: The error message as reported in the .rpt is the same as what Jack-UK posted in the "1.11 beta patch troubleshooting thread" (about page 8). ropiav 0 Posted March 24, 2008 same issue. The game freeze with the sound looping. Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Alt+Suppr does nothing. Have to hard reboot my computer. I've the same issue with Test drive unlimited. It's always random and after a long time playing (about one hour or two) My specs: Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme Motherboard: Asus P5W DH Deluxe RAM: 2GB Corsair PC6400 GPU: Geforce 8800GTX Sound: Auzentech X-fi prelude Os: Windows XP SP2 Arma 1.08 I had the nvidia 169.21 drivers. I'm trying the 163.75. If i have the same issue with TDU, I think it's not a game issue but more a hardware issue. Maybe the x-fi proc. is the problem. SWAT_CDN 0 Posted March 24, 2008 I am not so sure it's a sound issue. I am using "onboard sound" I am running in "window" mode so no need for alt+tab. I just hit "ESC' do mu thing from the task bar and hit resume however when this Freeze hits my computer totally locks up. I also thought it was a Hardware issue but now I'm not so sure. I am wondering if anybody can translate the error's that are showing up in the .rpt file? I googled the stuff in different formats and really did not cme up with anything I understand. If it's hardware related I'm like about 2 months away from warranty returns so some advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way this is only happening while in Arma no other programs or games. (not to date anyhow!

Ahead thx for replies I have the same problem, very boring in deed, I beloved it was hardware before I read all yours specifications... I don't think it is Hardware, I have a munch older specification then any of yours, 7800GT , AMD 2.8GHz and 1 G RAM I run graphic settings on normal (also tried high it works fine but crash more often). I have seen a big improvement since I upgrade OpenAL and start use -maxmem=512 (visual graphic is worse thug)…I install 1.11 and all bad problems was back plus some new. We all uninstall 1.11 in the clan and went back to 1.09, well it is better again but not as good as before---> the only thing I can see could have been changed is OpenAL, I will try tonight and see if it helps. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted March 25, 2008 I find disabling EAX helps, I have never gotten it since. Otherwise the game was freezing everytime I highlighted a button in the menu and GUI for about 5 seconds.
SWAT_CDN 0 Posted March 26, 2008 Well I turned down or off everything in Nvidia Control Panel, reduced Video Qualities in Arma to Normal, and turned off EAX in Arma. I can say I played last night for about 3 hours without a crash so...I guess it's not really hardware related. The graphics are so/so now but playable for longer periods of time. Sad thing is, I feel it's a shame that with my computer I have to turn everything off or down! SWAT_CDN 0 Posted March 31, 2008 I think I found out what my issue is or was. As mentioned before I turned everything graphically down. I started turning stuff up from Normal to High or Very High and it crashed after about 1/2 Hour. Had a game going on the internet (one of the few 1.11 servers that can be accessed) for 4 Hours with all settings at normal with no crashes. So it appears that with 1.11 my computer cannot handle the Graphics where 1.09 was not an issue. I wll keep playing around.
ropiav 0 Posted April 16, 2008 I had the same problem last night playing Hitman:Blood Money. And very few times with PES2008. I saw other posts with people getting same problem. As you can see, we, if i'm not mistaken, all have a GPU based on NVIDIA. I'm thinking of a driver problem. What do you think? I tried 169.21 and 163.75. Same problem. rowdied 44 Posted April 16, 2008 I had nothing but problems with 169.21 so I reverted to the default drivers 169.09 with my 8800gt. Try GURU3D and use the new 174.74 drivers. I've seen on other forums that the game has been very stable for some with better performance. Beta 1.09 was more stable than 1.11 and 1.12 for me on all 5 of my computers. I can only play around 3-5 hrs before I get freezing and have to reboot. I'm going to try the 174.74 beta drivers tonight to see how they perform.
