Terrain Deformation

What if they made it so that there was a layer of ground about five feet or seven feet deep that could be blown up and no deeper?

If you made the foundations of the buildings deeper than that there wouldn't be any problems because you would never be able to dig under the building. This would also allow for trenches to be made and for additional cover in fields. I don't suggest making it so that everything leaves a crater atleast not a big one. LGBs and artillery should really be the only thing to leave craters. Maybe smaller things should leave smaller ones but nothing that deep.

Anyone see any problems with that?

What if you didn't deform the terrain, but replaced it with a dirt crater object? The walls of the dirt crater would be higher than the ground, but a scripted interrior where you could walk at ankle deep elevation only exists inside the crater, and the floor happens to match the replacement terrain?

Total Yugo war had a foxhole object that maintained the ground elevation, but allowed you walk/run inside it for cover with the dirt walls.

VBS II VTK has it. No reason why Arma II shouldnt.

The reason is your Mom probably not being as rich as the marines. No offense man. It's just that your post is just as funny/constructive as mine imho.

We might see this in Arma 6. Where the min requirement is a quadcore and 8 gigs of ram.Maybe the video card wont be required as long as you can plug it in your brain. Of course Mexicans will have to use SLI.

VBS II VTK has it. No reason why Arma II shouldnt.

The reason is your Mom probably not being as rich as the marines. No offense man. It's just that your post is just as funny/constructive as mine imho.

Actually his post is much more constructive... the fact that it can be done in the game engine puts to bed any argument about needing "too much resource" or antyhing like that. If it can be done in VBS2, it can be done in ArmA2. Now its just a matter if BIS wants to include DT as a feature in the game or not... that is simply all thats keep it out of the game, end of story.

And for this fact Sgt_Hawkins post is the funny/unconstructive post.....

Just because it's in VBS2 doesn't mean that there's 'no reason' it can't be in ArmA. Did you even read the previous posts? Without a smaller terrain grid size, it will look like crap. Unless they find a better way to do it.
