Why do german Letters like ö, ü and ä dont appear?

Hello there...

got a problem...

i want to define a User action...

open the door...open hatches etc...

all work well only when it (the user action)

appear ingame...

there's no letters like ü, ö and ähuh.gif

why is that so???

i try to type it in HTML like

ö for ö and such...

dont work either...

do some one have clue what i have to do???

Have you checked the corresponding game font table? Probably they've used fonts which include empyt spaces for such language individual letters.

Otherwise you could search the official missions if there's any onedisplaying such symbols at least in the german briefings. Anyway it won't be the same font as in the action menu I guess.

How do you enter the letters? Be sure to provide your strings in UTF-8 or Unicode, not in any 8bit codepage.

I've had this problem too. I can't get them to show up in unit names in the editor. It worked fine for OFP, but right now I'm down to using ue, oe, etc., which just isn't quite the same.

Suma has writen the answer:

ArmA is able to read UTF-8 files. If you're files will be saved as unicode the characters will be shown up correct.

Assuming you use Notepad, when you go to the save as... screen there is an "Encoding" drop down allowing you to select UTF-8. If you use something else, then check your documentation for the program.
